Will Rutgers announce new DC this weekend?

You think players will be leaving that juggernaut to come with the DB coach to Rutgers? I’m sure even if their coordinators left. They wouldn’t be bringing many if any with them.
I did not say I thought that would happen. You stated "Yea but there is no value and no immediate impact if they can’t bring anyone with them. The portal closes in 4 days. If those names are not in the portal by then they’re not bringing anyone with them." Since there was talk of Adams in this thread I was just pointing out that he "could" bring players a player(s) with him. Not saying it would happen.

I get it. There is a chance. I usually don’t limit myself to 3-5 “potential” players. When there are literally thousands in the portal. The logical thing would be to have someone in place weeks in advance of any portal deadline to get maximum benefit. As an old mentor of mine used to say. “You never fire without knowing your hire.” Here we are replacing a coordinator for the 3rd time. And following the same flawed process.

I sure hope the RU pres and AD are paying attention. This is a **** show - at least from the outside.

Acknowledging we don’t know what’s happening behind closed doors - if @Richie O and others are correct and there was money to spend beyond roster retention I sure hope Zinn is as baffled as the fan base at what is transpiring…

No D staff.
No significant upgrade in talent - lots of replacement players for graduating/transferring talent.
Heck even President Tate is agreeing with us that they have money lol.

Keli is definitely paying attention. She will give lip service to the press about Greg but she’s not working her *** off to raise all these funds only to give them to a guy no one wants to work for. She’s done a deep dive into the program. She knows the challenges she’s facing both internally and externally. Greg is quickly reaching sink or swim status.

What’s hard is Greg is proving to be no better at roster construction today than he was when serving as the primary fundraiser.

I have been pro Greg since he was rehired; however, that is quickly changing with this experience.

So…I’d say you guys are being a little negative.

It’s NIL and we are spending our money on our players, and on the offensive side of the ball. We can’t afford both!

The rest is you just whining!

You never know- Indiana has become king of the portal which means they have players the will be portaled over..,

I’m sure it could happen but I have my doubts. I hope he comes with the entire DB room. But logic takes me in a different direction.

This
Losing several players to P4 Programs in the Portal while picking up only one player from a P4 team (BC QB) is a major red flag on how we are building proven talent on our roster.

Huge red flag this year- in previous years, we may not have brought in the elite transfers but we weren't losing talented players to the portal.

this year- we have lost a bunch of starters and or young players that P4 teams want to pay for them to come play for them and we are bringing in guys from Maine.

Do you really think that Bo (Toast) Masco was worth anywhere near 7 figures??? Bo thought he was!

I have no idea of his worth but if a blue blood like Texas with NC hopes likes him.,,hmmmm

also- I found it interesting this past year or two that all of our DB’s regressed.

With our hugely underperforming Defense last season combined with the departure of the more talented defensive players to P4 teams via the Portal hopefully means only one thing. Schiano had a very good recruiting & highly ranked class on the Defensive side last year. Perhaps he feels redshirting these pivotal players last season they are now ready to step up and star on Defense: DE Collier, CB Clayton, S Tariq Hayer, DT Braxton, LB McClary , LB Kamar Archie.

I would hope so but if he was planning to count on them this year, he should have gotten each of them into 4 games last year…

I thought about that too but either he thought they weren’t ready physically yet or he was attempting to keep them under the radar and not get poached in the Portal { I know wishful thinking}.

Just seems more and more Greg either lives in a bubble, or is so arrogant, thinking that he can do what he wants at RU because he got us back to mediocre...he isn't smarter than all of the other coaches at other schools who made hires much faster...and his track record, esp with Robb Smith, leaves a lot to be desired...

Sadly, past AD's have allowed, even encouraged him to do what he pleased.

Fortunately for fans now, we have an AD, with the support of the President, who will manage him appropriately. His contract is protecting him to some degree for the time being, but he's officially on the clock. ADZ is very savvy. She knows she's going to get one crack this and is doing all the things necessary to be prepared when that time comes.

If MCRU93 or Knight Shift likes this post with a laugh emoji, they are confirming they are dudes who likes dudes.

It’s the same every year. Last year it was JMU guys instead of Maine.

And they would be right to do so. Bo wasn't very good in 2025.
And I have no idea what the Longhorns were looking at.
Bo was much better before last year, where he regressed. But, it seemed that every single DB on our team regressed last year. Maybe, it isn't all on the player. And Texas sees a talented kid that needs to be in the right program
