I don’t think there is a chance it will happen, but it is way more than just money. I’m not saying those guys haven’t donated but IU didn’t do like a few others and just go out and buy 4 and 5 studs to fill a roster. They have zero 5 stars guys and only a handful of 4 star guys. If you look at their roster and recruiting classes you wouldn’t think there is any way they would be that good. There leader in sacks is a true sophomore that didn’t have a ranking when he committed 2 years ago. They had to pay to keep the guys they have but this narrative that it is all money is crazy

This. Some folks here wanna try to explain this IU thing away but just saying “Mark Cuban”, but the facts don’t back that explanation up.
IU reportedly actually has a fairly low football NIL budget compared to other schools, and their best players were nearly all ranked fairly shockingly low as prospects when they came out of high school (UK’s roster was ranked significantly higher than theirs in the recruiting rankings).
So the evidence indicates that money does NOT explain it. So what does?

Yes, gave. Money is not eveything. I agree he was paid well (market value), but he also took this program to heights never seen before. Just because you are getting paid does mean you put everything into. He put his heart and soul into Kentucky Football. Just look at the facilities now and what we had before him. Some people can never be pleased or appreciative of anything anyone does. Geez stop being so miserable with your life.
I have no idea why Pope has not signed any high school recruit or if NIL is the issue, but it seems pretty strange that the football is doing a pretty good job of gathering good recruits from the portal. Could it be that football has a general manager handling this or is football and basketball NIL dealings different?

Anyone know which site is the more revered in terms of 247 vs On3 for accurate transfer portal class rankings? I have a UL-fan friend that is insistent on using On3 because of UL's high ranking, but it simply doesn't make sense to me. I of course always counter with 247, but for the life of me can't understand the system that is On3. Just from the eye-test and simple math, it would appear that our incoming portal class is better than UL's.

I did the Math. Obviously, your understanding of economics is limited. In America you get paid based on what someone is willing to pay you. That sets the Market Value. Ask, LSU what the market value is for Sam Leavitt. One week, it was a couple million, then the next week, it was 4 to 5 million. Football is a business and if someone wants to talk to Stoops about a job, he should listen. That is called common sense. Something obviously you struggle with.
I don’t get it either village. I am not happy with the season so far, but I will still support my team in good and bad times. It’s easy to be a fan in good times. Not so easy in tough times.
Some people are bandwagon front runners and not diehard fans. I hate losing as much as the next guy, but will still be watching all the games and won’t “check out” if we’re not winning enough. (That’s not to say I haven’t turned off any games this year. I didn’t see halftime of the Gonzaga game, but I would’ve felt like a masochist if I did. Lol)

BTW, despite the lies trash like you pushed for months, athletes at UK don’t have to sign their NIL rights away, athletes can absolutely sign 3rd party deals, and they don’t need JMI approval. You lied about that and Inwont sugarcoat it to make a liar feel better about himself.
There’s a difference between the discussion about whether he SHOULD get a 3rd year and whether or not you entirely stop being involved at all if we lose. I’m not the judge of other fans — but to me that’s the very definition of being a bandwagon fan. By the way, I go back and forth all the time about Pope and a third year … do you know why? I’m actually trying to be honest about it. Most people have their set view and don’t let facts get in the way. You’re one of the ones I would say is very set in the pessimistic view and that’s not wrong. Others like UKCowboys are set in the optimistic view. There’s a huge pool of people somewhere in the middle where people are thinking this out everyday.
And by the way, Pope will almost certainly get a third year no matter what any posters want. Don’t believe me?
