Will you switch cable/satellite companies if they don't have SEC Network?...

Swithed from DirecTV to Uverse two weeks ago...

and should have done it sooner. I was with DirecTV for about 8 years and a big fan. I recieved too good an offer from Uverse and after calling DTV to match, they wouldn't do it (after having matched it for the last two years).

Now that I switched I love it because of much better technology in the receivers. As a guy, I want the channel to change immediately. With DTV it was terribly slow and getting worse. Uverse is almost instant...MUCH better than DTV.

And the wife and 13 year old daughter like it too, which is a plus of course.

This is a pretty underrated aspect when trying to watch/follow multiple games at once. Those couple of seconds on direcTV add up to a bunch of missed time over the course of a full day of watching football...

Dish in central MS would be no good to me. We have it at work and the service stays out a lot because of weather.

That's odd. Haven't kept any data, but mine is up for what I would estimate is greater than 99.9% of the time. It'll go down with moderately heavy rainfall, especially if the cloud cover is really dense, but that's about it.

I think we just notice it when it goes off because we expect it to be on all the time. Basically, Dish is quite reliable for me.

That's been my major gripe with digital television (at least from satellite) from the very beginning. Since you mentioned that feature, I may have to look into switching ... if Uverse is ever available here.

How does the cost compare with Uverse/satellite/cable? I'm paying around $100 for the Dish 250, which includes just about everything that's in English except the porno channels and I have no HBO or other movie channels (except the included ones). Do they also have internet and landline phone?

I have 18MPBS internet, unlimited nationwide VOIP landline, and u450 -- which includes all of the move channels, and all sports channels outside of CSS. For awhile, I even got the regional fox sports channels from other regions, but they eventually cut that out and left me with fox sports south. I've had the LHN, B1G, 3 PAC12 Networks, etc from day 1...
My overall bill is about $160/mo right now after fees -- although it's supposed to go up another $71 after 2 full years with them. However, I was only "tied in" for one year on my initial contract -- so there will be time to talk to them and avoid ever having the price really skyrocket on me..

300 channels I believe, plus 2 phone lines and 18Mbps. After a year, it goes up around $25 but I'll renegotiate or cut out some of the services. I can't stress enough the difference in the speed of the receivers. It's significantly faster than DTV. I told DTV, when cancelling the service, that it was the main reason I changed.

Thanks. As I said, my Dish is about $100/mo. In addition, my phone/internet (25MBPS down, 6 up) is about $95. So it's pretty comparable. Since that's the case, I would make the switch to get the good channel-changing, assuming the DVR is large and good, and has multiple room capability. I guess it's academic at this point though since Uverse isn't available here yet.
