I just don't see it as looney tune land if we're 0-5 when it comes to NCAA tournaments. Providence got rid of a guy in 3 years for not winning. Ed Cooley's going to be under pressure next year. We're looking at as hey let's give him 7 years to see if he can make the tournament.
Providence was among the top NIL in the conference, not among the lowest. Providence's coach showed no substantive improvement this year. English was not named the BE COY. Providence did not greatly overachieve pre-season expectations, they greatly underachieved, especially considering their NIL. Should I continue?

Willard got six years. Thank goodness we stuck with him. Oh yeah, I think PJ got five years and most people wanted him gone. Remember the student senate.

Both guys were taking over a program that hadn't been in the top part of the conference for years. They were also able to build things. In today's world you're not building over time.

Please do. Because it sounds to me, put together a crappy roster, overachieve 11th place and you got a job for life. You're rewarding being picked 11th. What a crappy baseline that is. And weren't we ranked 7th in NIL? Why were expectations 11th? Who cares, let's reward it!!!!

And good look finding a quality new coach while you‘re at it.

How‘s that Butler list looking? Would you be happy with that?

Butler is probably the worst financially speaking team in the conference.

Hard to get a high quality coach there.

All due respect, you got no idea what it's like being number one.

Bottom tier from what has been said.

TIER 1 ($10+M)
SJU / UCONN

TIER 2 ($8-10M)
Gtown / Providence / Nova

Creighton? - not sure if they were 2 or 3, had 3 big time transfer portal recruits. Couldn’t have been cheap.

TIER 3 ($6-8m)
Marquette. - but with resources to spend more…just focused on retention

TIER 4 ($4-6m)
DePaul
SHU
BUTLER
Xavier

So give tier 4’s coaches eternity to figure it out? Holtmann is trying get out of a hole that was as close to 6 feet under as you can get. He’s basically got to build a fan base after 20 years of disaster. otherwise if I was a fan of Butler or X, I would want results of getting to the ncaas within 4 to 5 years. Can’t imagine why SHU wouldn’t have that as a benchmark. Is the goal to make the tournament or just not embarrass ourselves. If the goal is to not embarrass ourselves because we have a low payroll I completely understand. If it’s to make the ncaa tournament, then I just don’t get it.

This is why I have set you to “ignored” as a poster along with a few others. But I saw your comment before I logged in where that setting is saved. You clearly just look for fights with other members.

You said “weren’t we 7th in NIL spending?”

All I did was repost what the common response as to where BE teams spent this past year. Nothing else. Not a positive or negative comment about SHU or Sha or anything.

and your response is to attack back and say, “so give tier 4 coaches eternity to figure it out?” Followed by some long winded comments about setting bars and embarrassing ourselves.

not sure where I said anything about that.

this is exactly why others call you out for having an agenda. Thanks for allowing me to illustrate for others why you are repeatedly a cancer to the message board.

I will now go back to “ignoring” all comments you make.

Thank you. I now get why the SHU09 guy is leaving. People want to live in this world like they’re Kevin Bacon in Animal House yelling “Remain calm, All is well” when it’s not if missing the tournament 4 years in a row stinks, if showing up to a 60% empty building despite what the box score says stinks, student turn out is as low as it’s ever been. if you say what your eyes see and don’t lean on we overachieved the preseason poll of last place or you don’t blame NIL for everything you have an agenda. As for a long winded post, my longest post is always shorter than your shortest post. As for NIL budget I’ll take SPKs numbers that we were 7th.

Decent info.

Tier 1 is correct but maybe more like $12M

Tier 2 should include Creighton but otherwise is correct

Tier 3 is incorrect. They have the money but they didn't spend it. So they should be in tier 4.

Tier 4 is correct when adding in Marquette

Regarding the comment on Steve (SPK) above

He's certainly in the ballpark if you note that Marquette, who has way more NIL money than us didn't use it last year.

We might have had a little more than the other schools but remember we didn't use it because of the stalled court case until it was settled.

For the person in a prior thread who said we probably spent $5M because the roster didn't look like a $6M roster he has no inside info, he is just guessing.

Bottom line we had $6M and if needed could have bumped it up slightly. But it wasn't and in fact we actually spent a hair less that $6M.

I don't know if we should be mad or happy about this.

All 11 schools will be getting bumps. Some of course higher than others.

My thought is as noted. The Pirates will get an appreciable bump over the $6M mark but will probably be in the top of the lowest tier. Again because of our lack of donors.

I am doing my part as I know many of you are. But we need so much more to reach the top 2 tiers.

In reality I don't ever see us in tier number one without the help of a whale like Repole. But if we do our part like the Providence fans or the Nova fans are doing we could certainly match those two schools and give Holloway every chance to Dance most every year.

Not close to what he needs. Despite the criticism Bozzella has done a great job at the Hall with the money given to his program.

Our fans don't want to hear it but other than UConn, the Big East is only a high mid major in women's BB.

You hit the nail on the head. All people who don't toe the company line or have a different view are trolls. Nothing like a troll who was excited after every win this year. You're just contributing to an America where people are intolerant of other peoples view and that is really stupid. Enlighten me, which part is inaccurate of what I said, 0-4 in making the tournament? The Prudential center is less than half full regardless of what the box score says? The student section is as empty as we've seen it in decades? Heck corner to corner on the baselines are practically empty, you can have your own section if you want on weeknight game. In general there's no excitement besides the 200 people on here. It's sad. My sincerest apologies for wanting to be in the NCAA tournament badly and viewing NIL as a hurdle and not the final nail in the coffin.
