assistants need raises. Great that Dan is working on an extension. Time for Wilson and the rest to get some love too.

It's time Wilson got paid a competitive rate for his services, especially with how recruiting is going on his side of the ball. At least an extra $100k...

Nix was making over 500K per year at OM and he was never great in his best years, certainly not any better than Wilson was this year for us. And Wilson and Collins are our best recruiters best I can tell.

Wilson does deserve a raise. Our defense was impressive this year. I would give the LB coach a raise too; our LB's were the most improved group on the team.

Other than that, no raises. In fact, I would put some coaches on action plans, specifically Mirando and maybe Hevesy (though with injuries and overall depth, it may not have been his fault).

You don't reward mediocrity.

..and he probably deserves a raise...probably some others. Compensation issues can be difficult and sensitive as far as what's "fair."

I want to see some improvement. He had some good games and bad ones this year. Finished the year with an average total defense ranked #43 in the NCAA. I do think he showed some promise and we were very good in the red zone this year. But the bend don't break defensekills me sometimes.

Diaz turned in a #49 total defense and a #21 scoring defense last year with 2 NFL linebackers and an NFL defensive end. Wilson has arguably improved on that with less talent (and the defensive recruiting has been stellar).

bend don't break is to prevent TDs from being scored in the redzone right?

We need to keep Wilson as long as he wants to be here and if we need to pay him from taking another one of those jobs, I'll chip in. He's worth every damn penny. Our defense, with a make-shift undersized LB crew, was phenomenal this year.

Sure but using that strategy why not give them the ball on our 20 every time and go from there. Hell why would our offense ever punt, because using the bend but don't break defense would keep them out of the endzone right?

Your are basically allowing them to drive down the field with ease, and giving up 400+ yards of offense per game...dumb. To me that's just settling for mediocrity instead of going for somebody's throat...you have your opinion though

Edited to add: I still think Wilson is a good coach and hell of a recruiter and I hope he improves next year after a good first season. His bend don't break philosophy is from Bob Stoops and if we're winning games then you won't hear me complain.

I couldn't care less how many yards we give up as long as they don't score. Red zone scoring d>>>>>>yards given up.

If Mullen was going to get rid of Koenning, then it would have already been done
