A 1984 graduate of North Carolina, Kevin Wilson is in his third season as NU's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In the spring of 2001, he was named the assistant head coach of the Wildcats by Randy Walker.</p>
Last year, Wilson oversaw the implementation of NU's innovative new offensive scheme that caught the Big Ten by storm and captured the nation's attention. The Wildcats set 25 school records as a team and shattered the previous marks for total yards (5,615) and points (441). As a result, Wilson was a finalist for the Frank Broyles Award, which is given to the top assistant coach in the nation.</p>
Overall, the NU offense finished among the nation's Top 10 in total offense (3rd/475.6 ypg), rushing offense (8th/257.3 ypg) and scoring offense (9th/38.5 ppg). In addition, quarterback Zak Kustok established single-season school records for touchdown passes (19) and total offense (2,894 yards).</p>
Prior to his arrival at Northwestern with Walker, Wilson spent nine seasons at Miami, the last six as offensive coordinator. During his first eight seasons at Miami, he also worked with the offensive line. Under Wilson's direction, the RedHawks amassed the three highest total offensive seasons in school history.</p>
In 1997, the RedHawks broke several MAC and Miami single-season records, including points (412), passing yards (2,591), and total offense (443.3 ypg). Under Wilson's direction, Miami amassed 4,876 yards of offense in 1997, 4,115 yards in 1994 and 3,986 yards in 1995 - the first-, third- and fifth-best totals in school history.</p>
