A lot of people, today, who still use non-wireless phones, aren't really using land-lines, per se, either. They're using VOIP which is digital (and can even work wirelessly), not analog like traditional lane-lines were.

The key difference being that traditional land-lines continue to work after a power outage. VOIP does not.

I am gonna guess SHI still has direct lines from the coaches boxes to sidelines.
I think MLB has non traditional lines

Ha. I remember when the push button landline phone was all the rage over the dial phone.

This is why I have a landline “emergency” phone in my house. We live in a dead zone for cell service and we use wifi calling for our mobile phones when we have power. I have internet modem and router on a UPS that gives us a few hours of leeway, but we keep the landline just in case.

I was once pointing out where the Sam Goody used to be on the corner of Easton Ave and Little Albany Street (street level under Easton Ave apartments).

Me: “this used to be a Sam Goody”
Undergrad: “what’s a Sam Goody”
Me: “That’s where we used to buys CDs”
Undergrad: “What’s a CD”

Pshh, kids will never know the feeling of how cool it was when you or one of your buddies got a copy of the non Nancy Reagon edited version of NWA or Rage Against the Machine!

We don’t even have a home line.

I think we do as part of a "triple play" bundle with cable/internet.

Couldn't tell you the number and we don't have a phone connected to it.

Funny enough our house is still wired for a landmine. It's just an unused jack on the wall.

The fear of calling a girls house and having her dad answer. Gotta get past the pops first. Not a thing anymore. Parents in the dark while kids are all talking in their on phones through apps.

Was never a concern for me. Pops always assumed I was just calling to help with homework.

Hopefully to other kids, and not older dudes!

2 recent funny phone stories.

Was moving my mom into a new place. Setting up her phone and arguing with. My nephew because he can’t tell if it’s working. I said do you hear the tone?
He response I don’t know what “tone” is.

Second, my daughter took an official to Georgetown recently. When they bring you through the old gym they point out the phone booths reporters used to use to call in scores.
My daughter: what’s a phone booth?

Do they still have calling cards? Remember using them from the pay phone from the dorms freshman year.

If anybody has seen the Joe Montana series on Peacock, there's a funny part where Joe realizes if he hits 9 he can dial out. So he started calling his wife during games haha.

Edit here's the clip.

Was she giving him plays or asking him to pick up milk on the way home? 😃

I think you have your political wives confused. The Parents Music Resource Center was founded by Tipper Gore. Not sure, but I don't think Nancy Reagan was involved in that organization at all. I could be wrong though.
Were the songs actually edited??? I know that the PMRC pushed for Parents Advisory stickers on the records but I don't remember them actually being edited. I could definitely be wrong on this as I can't say that I've listened to much of either groups' music.

Ours is as well. A couple of weeks ago, my 10 year old goes "Why do we have an ethernet port on the wall in the kitchen." After letting out a heavy sigh, I had to explain old phones to him.

Kid doesn't even know what a landline is but is trying to get less ping on his gaming pc.
