I remember thinking at the start of the season thinking we had no real QB controversy for a change. Bang! Here we go again.
I just hope this all works out for all. I want to see this talented kid developed correctly and not thrown to the wolves.
I am totally torn right now and have to think just about everyone else is too.

We always throw our QBs to the wolves. If he's ready and better he'll play. I'm guessing he has a lot of plays to learn and a lot of work to do to get in to B1G shape/strength.

Maybe we see him later in the season.

I don’t think GS will throw him to the wolves. Vedral is serviceable and in spite of our, as fans, desire for a bowl type season, I think GS understands that this is a build. He will use Gavin when he thinks Gavin is ready.

I like Wimsatt here, but I think the optimal situation is for the #1 with the experience to play well and allow the young guy time to acclimate to his new situation. If Wimsatt is ready and clearly the better of the two QBs now, great and let him play. But for the team and program right now I think it’s better for all that Vedral plays well and is the guy this season.

He is not “serviceable “ when we are behind in games and have no downfield Passing game.
Wimsatt adds a new dimension this year…. great to have that option.

He hasn't even hit the field for his first practice.

The only QB controversy will be created by fans/media who think they know more than the coaches.

Exactly the same delusional fans that demanded Art start as a true freshman because he had more "potential" than Gio. And we saw how that turned out. 😉

Now throw in no spring practice or training camp and it will all work out for the best & Wimsatt will lead us to a bowl game in their minds. 😂

Playbook? He don't need to learn no stinkin' playbook. He should start next Saturday.

The key phrase is NO sSpring practice or training camp.

Unfortunately this is a result of too many not understanding how winning programs are built.

We have the staff to do it right and they immediately want to ruin the kid like Ash & McNulty did with Art. Guess this qualifies them as insane...lol.

There is no qb controversy. My guess is all will be quiet on the wimsatt front until November. No chance they break his redshirt. My guess is his playing time will depend on how close the team is to reaching 6 wins.

What is the over/under on when Snyder and/or Simon enter the portal. It looked like the staff was hesitant to use them even in garbage time. If Gavin picks everything up and looks like he can get it done, most likely toward the end of the season because it will take time, then he will be the go to guy (especially if it keeps his redshirt) and they are squeezed out of any PT. Interesting to watch.

Dds, I agree. Snyder and Simon should have been in the whole 4th quarter. Not saying Greg was running it up, but why weren’t they in a lot earlier. If he doesn’t think either can move the ball against Temple, I don’t know what to do if Vedral gets injured.
I think if Vedral had shown a little more we would have seen those guys. My guess is the coaches knew Vedral needs all the reps he can get. I don't feel it's an indictment of Snyder or Simon.

Guys go support RJ Young YouTube channel. Dude is talented and ever since Schiano took over, he started paying attention to Rutgers. Dude is an Oklahoma fan but he gave ya’ll a vote in the top 25. Reciprocate it by subscribing and getting more Rutgers content because RJ is about to blow up. He’s with Fox and he has a interview with Greg Schiano.

I think both the press and fans need to pump the brakes on Wimsatt. He has a lot of transition in front of him. He is a HS kid adjusting to college and playing the toughest position at the major college level. I don’t think this staff will rush him onto the field, maybe late in the season to get his feet wet if he is able to run the offense at that point.

Agreed. Let's allow him time to figure out where the locker room is, first. The difference between high school and college is immense. All in due time. Coach knows what he's doing.

We can’t read the coaches’ minds but the timing of the arrival of Wimsatt coupled with Simon and Snyder not getting any meaningful minutes in a blowout is going to lead to rumor and speculation.

Or you could drop the conspiracy speculation and go with the more sensical one... That he wants to give himself more time to be ready to be the starter next year, while signing NIL deals this year

I didn’t speculate. I said it would lead to it. Just as you are doing. Already putting him ahead of Snyder and Simon.

I highly doubt he plays much if at all. Now that camp is over practice time is very limited. It hard enough to be ready as a true freshman going through camp let alone starting in the middle of the season. I am sure their plan is to have him play scout team to get use to the speed of the game and bring him along slowly.

If Vedral runs with the ball too much, one or both will be playing, along with Langan. It is hard to believe that a kid who was in the first marking period, senior year, high school, can make a significant difference as QB on a power 5 conference team.

But given he can play 4 games, does a bit of playing time sprinkled in this season help get him ready to be a starter next year?

Can't imagine a high school senior out there taking hits from 22-23 year old linebackers and linemen.
Not all high school seniors are created equal.

Not sure where Wimsatt is on that spectrum.

A few garbage time reps is not going to make a difference. If he is ready they will play him but get a handful of plays in 4 games will not have a major impact on 2022.
