I like how this guy rolls and the one who responded and upped the ante.
8-9 wins doable?

Have a few coffees, al!!! I'm all in for 10-2!!!!They’re all winnable. Depends on Wimsatt’s development.

15-20 completions- 60 pass attempts? (sarcasm)I think our gameplan has worked against all of our opponents to date (except Michigan). I do not think it will work against most of the rest of the B1G -- especially since they all know what's coming. Wisconsin will stack the box, as will MSU, Iowa, etc. If our plan is to try and run the ball as much as we have, and to throw (or, should I say "rely on as few completions") as we have, we will not win those games.
I understand where Wimsatt is in his development (and why the coaching staff does not want to risk INT's) but I think there is more we can do with the passing game to keep defenses honest and to give us a better chance at winning. For example, those little out routes (on 1st downs) that you've seen the last few games. Nothing wrong with peppering more of these short-to-medium pass plays in with the run game.
I think the goal should NOT be 20 pass attempts. I think the goal could/should be more like 15-20 pass completions (regardless of how many attempts it takes to get there). That will make our run game more effective against bigger D-lines / rush defenses.

I agree with you for the most part. One concerning aspect of the Wagner game (and Teel commented on this a lot) was that Wagner covered our receivers well.
The question there is whether the receivers were covered well because of poor route running, or because the passing game is unsophisticated. I tend to believe the latter. Receivers become easy to cover when the whole field isn't used.15-20 completions- 60 pass attempts? (sarcasm)

Beat Indiana and Sparty and we go bowling. It's that simple. Every other game on the schedule is either an automatic loss or a very unlikely win.

This will be seen when the Coaching staff has the confidence for Gavin to pass over the middle and not just rely on the sideline out routes. They’re all winnable. Depends on Wimsatt’s development.
Wrong. Iowa and Maryland are not unlikely wins at this point.Beat Indiana and Sparty and we go bowling. It's that simple. Every other game on the schedule is either an automatic loss or a very unlikely win.
The ball sails on Wimsatt at times, so they have him throwing to the sideline to minimize the risk of turnovers. This will be seen when the Coaching staff has the confidence for Gavin to pass over the middle and not just rely on the sideline out routes.
It is his footwork... I think. He doesn't step into throws.. he has a BIG arm and doesn't need to.. but, I think, that makes him less accurate. It does make him better than most while throwing on the run.. not needing to get his feet set properly... but inside the pocket.. I think it make him less accurate. Weird situation... if I assess it correctly... which is not a sure thing... what do I know? The ball sails on Wimsatt at times, so they have him throwing to the sideline to minimize the risk of turnovers.
I agree those three are winnable. I think our next best shot after that would be Wisconsin. They're not high flying, Mordecai mainly throws short, high percentage passes and rarely goes over the top.MSU, Iowa, and Indiana are winnable. Gotta bag 2 out of 3. The rest I just don’t see as Ws with current passing game production barring the competition laying an absolute egg or us opening up the passing playbook.
We’re so strong in the run game so far this year that if we even had average passing production the amount of options would be endless.
For good and well coached defensive backs, the sideline is a 12th defenderThe ball sails on Wimsatt at times, so they have him throwing to the sideline to minimize the risk of turnovers.
Pessimist...RU is gonna go 70 - 1 over the next handful of seasons.
I thought Michigan was a good test for them against a tough , physical group. I don’t know if Wisconsin , Iowa are now that far ahead. Are they tough at home yes but sooner than later Rutgers will surprise 1 and maybe 2 of these on there turf. We are overdue. There’s a physicality and depth element both Wisconsin and Iowa bring.
I need to be shown 1st hand on Saturday we’re good enough to deal with it.
PSU and OSU are completely elite in that department.
I could make it 71 - 2 or 100 - 31. Those both work.Pessimist...
Frankly, they would have beaten Iowa last year with even minimally competent QB play.IMHO the Iowa game is not an Automatic Losses this year. They are not the powerhouse of the past this season.
Agree 100%.Beat Indiana and Sparty and we go bowling. It's that simple. Every other game on the schedule is either an automatic loss or a very unlikely win.
Even a good program like Wisconsin is 3-12 versus Michigan, Ohio State and Penn St in their last 5 games against each. Can't wait until the divisions are eliminated.I thought Michigan was a good test for them against a tough , physical group. I don’t know if Wisconsin , Iowa are now that far ahead. Guys, can't we just go 1 and 0 in our Wisconsin season?
Because what irrelevant fans on forum boards have to say has absolutely zero bearing on our final record…pGuys, can't we just go 1 and 0 in our Wisconsin season?
Beat OM, Bama, AU, UF and Mizzou and the other cupcake and you’re thereI am so happy that y’all are discussing even the possibility of 10-2. Most years I see the moaning and groaning of trying to get to .500. I am damn happy to see the flip side of many fans getting on board.
I only wish Arkansas had a possibility of salvaging a good season.
Best wishes to my Rutgers Brethren.
LOL. I always say “that ball bounces funny some days” . I am not holding much hope that it will bounce our way anytime soon.Beat OM, Bama, AU, UF and Mizzou and the other cupcake and you’re there
