I am so happy that y’all are discussing even the possibility of 10-2. Most years I see the moaning and groaning of trying to get to .500. I am damn happy to see the flip side of many fans getting on board.

I only wish Arkansas had a possibility of salvaging a good season.

Best wishes to my Rutgers Brethren.

Arkansas has a problem similar to Rutgers. SEC West is a grinder:
On their schedule though:
W Carolina
Kent State
BYU- (they lost!, but BYU is no cupcake).
FIU

That's 4, the rest is the SEC, and no slam dunks: LSU, Aggies, Ole Miss, Bama, Miss State (maybe a slam dunk this year), Florida, Auburn, Missouri.

2 more get to 6-6 .
be competitive in all of the games except Penn state and Ohio state…and don’t get completely stomped by Penn state
Win the bowl game.
Continue positive trajectory. Fill NIL coffers
Everyone should be happy with this and would have signed for it in august.

I’m with you here. The last time I thought we had a real chance against Wisconsin I drove for almost 2 hour in a miserable rain storm to watch us lose 37-0. That was back in 2014. While this years version of Wisconsin probably has the weakest defense of their teams that we’ve faced since joining the conference, I’m at a place where I’ll believe it when I see it in terms of us playing a competitive game against the Badgers. An extremely lopsided start to finish outcome would be disappointing though. Buffalo is terrible - they went into the locker room down 14-10 at half.

All the other teams I think we could beat on a given day.

It's time we start winning these games vs MSU, Iowa, and even Wis.

Not saying all of them, but get at least one of them(and maybe 2 given MSU seems they shouldn't be in this group).

Get to 7 and I feel we had a very successful season. 6 wins feels mandatory at this point, anything less then 6 would be pretty brutal.

I fear some of ya'll in this thread are getting a bit ahead of yourselves.

Some - yes. It’s crazy to think about 8+ wins at this point. We haven’t beaten anyone who will make a bowl yet. We have 2 teams left on the schedule that won’t make bowl games if they lose to us. The other 5 teams are probably going to bowls no matter the outcome of our games.

So thinking about 8+ wins is getting ahead for sure. Now if we don’t get to 6 wins that will mean we either lose out the rest of the way or go 1-6. Either of those outcomes would meet the definition of disappointing at this point. Can’t really argue otherwise. We need to find a way to win at least 2 more.

Well I hope they start on Saturday as I will be in the Moscow of the Midwest for the game.

Call me crazy, but I think VTech may make a bowl. 2-3. They found their QB (the one who played against RU). They beat Pitt last week.
4 more winnable games of these 5- Syracuse, BC, NC State, Virginia, Wake Forest.

Same. I should add we haven’t won yet outside of our home field and we definitely struggled more with false starts vs Michigan outside the friendly confines of our own stadium so that’s definitely another factor to keep an eye on.

We only had one away game, against Michigan. Or are you talking more generally?

Because we beat Temple and BC away last year. And in 2021, we beat Illinois and Indiana away. In 2020, oddly, we lost all of our home games, but won away games against MSU, Purdue and Maryland, but that was a year where no fans were in the stands. We will not discuss 2022 ever again on these forums. 🤕

That’s fair. Technically - I supposed NW and even Temple could still make bowls too I guess. But it’s an uphill battle for all. 5 of our next 7 games are against teams that would have to have epic collapses not to go bowling.

Not talking about last year. Different season and penalties were a problem at home too last season. False starts have nothing to do with Michigan’s talent level. We’ve played really clean games at home this year. It was definitely noticable that the crowd caused us to be a bit more jumpy vs. Michigan. My only point was that this could come into play for road games. Something to keep an eye on is all.

Purdue v. Iowa will be interesting to see how Iowa does with a new QB.
Maryland v. Ohio State will be interesting too, unfortunately same time as our game.

FWIW, I will be making a lot of noise on Wisconsin third downs in Camp Randall Saturday. I'm bringing in my own train horn. Apparently, Camp Randall allows train horns to be brought in the stadium. 😂

Most Likely to win(2-0)
vs Mich St(2-3, 0-2), @ Indiana(2-3, 0-2)

Maybe win 1 or 2 of Three
@ Wisc 3-1, Vs Iowa 4-1, Vs MD 5-0

Likely loss(0-2)
@ Penn St, Ohio St

Hopefully, worst case is 6-6, best 8-4 which is one up from my early season predictions of 5-7 to 7-5

Good for you in making the trip! I hope it’s a better game than the last Wisconsin game I made it to. I still cringe when I think about that 2014 game. I spent 3 times as long in the car than at that one. Left when my umbrella broke and I was soaked at a point when the game was long over.

It's going to be a great trip. Seeing our daughter's place for the first time since moving to Madison area in May. Going to tour her company Epic Systems (producer of MyChart app), and we have a fun schedule planned in Milwaukee, Madison and Mt Horeb (home of Duluth trading company).

But to be fair, that was against the #2 team in the country and in a stadium with ~110K hostile fans.

#2 team not much correlation with false start sloppiness. Certainly, Michigan’s home court is more intimidating than some other venues but Wisconsin, Iowa and PSU are all similarly tough venues. Only Indiana will be less so.

As I see it we have two very very probable losses in OSU/PSU, one likely win in Indiana, and four “winable/loseable“ games. So, we can reasonably be anywhere from 5&2 to 1&6. We really don’t know what this team is capable of. So, will split the difference and say we end up 7&5. GO RU.

It is his footwork... I think. He doesn't step into throws.. he has a BIG arm and doesn't need to.. but, I think, that makes him less accurate. It does make him better than most while throwing on the run.. not needing to get his feet set properly... but inside the pocket.. I think it make him less accurate. Weird situation... if I assess it correctly... which is not a sure thing... what do I know?

Edit rewatched his throws.. thanks TKR for doing these edits.. its not that he doesn't step into it at all.. its a tiny step forward and sometimes it looks like the step is as much out as it is forward. You step forward so the shoulder is moving towards the target while the arm throwing motion follows. Something just seems a tiny bit "off".
Kirk should be noticing that and making changes with Gavin.

I remember that game very well and how after seeing the size of their O line , D line and LBers said to my wife “ we’ re in for a very long day. They just dominated the LOS. Not sure that will be the case Saturday. I expect a very good game and if Wimsatt the o line and wr corp can step up this may be the game which elevates the program forward. Why not… Rutgers 24-Wisconsin 21 in OT.

how crazy would it be to win this game in Wisc and then be playing the 2 games we think we should win. Win on Saturday and we could actually be 7-1 going against OSU.
If that were to happen, I would also think we would be ranked

For me the must wins are MSU and Indiana. After that it’s all gravy. Iowa would be best chance for the remaining games.

Even a good program like Wisconsin is 3-12 versus Michigan, Ohio State and Penn St in their last 5 games against each. Can't wait until the divisions are eliminated.
Even once the East/West divisions are eliminated, our schedules will not be any easier. In fact, they may become more brutal with the addition of arguably the four best PACx teams.

If Rutgers upsets Wisconsin ( not crazy) Saturday next game vs Michigan State is going to be really wild. I remember 2005 and winning to go to our first bowl game since the old Garden State Bowl. Would love to see Reggie Sutton leading the band Ala Brian Leonard.

We don’t play Purdue so I wasn’t assessing their bowl chances. Argument could actually be made that NW has an easier path than them (Nw still gets to play Howard). They are not a bowl lock. They may have more talent than NW but NW gets them at home and only has to collect 3 more real wins in the west vs. 4.

Iowa not getting to 6 would be like us not getting there even with swapping our PSU and OSU games with Minny and Nebraska.

A win at Wisconsin changes the trajectory and thus, the expectations of the final 7 games. In August, I'd have signed up for 6-6, but in early October at 5-1 (2-1) with a win at Wisconsin, a 1-5 finish to get there wouldn't feel as great.

Anyway, 1 game at a time.

I just want to beat Wisconsin because they're 1 of 3-4 Big 10 teams we've never beaten.
