They only surprise here is that FSU didn't at least make some lame attempt to pretend the reason for the delay is about anything other than football.

Did you happen to hear ole Jimbo Fisher's comments about being moved down to #3? Who has integrity at Florida State?

It was a diatribe about how he is not going to compromise the integrity of his team by running the score up on opponents. Stink, on Espn radio last night said, it's hard to run the score up when your down 28 in the first half.

Two years after the act is not timely justice for the victim or Winston.

This isn't about justice, it's about Title IX funding. Justice was either served or not when the police declined to press charges. Universities are not and should not be responsible for criminal justice. When the title game is over, they can throw Winston out using a preponderance of the evidence standard, they can claim they punished him and that their Title IX funding shouldn't be in jeopardy, the alleged victim can feel a little bit vindicated and maybe pursue a civil suit, and Winston can go to the NFL and make millions if he can keep his head out of his *** long enough to get a second contract, since he's probably managed to throw up enough red flags that nobody is going to give him a big first contract.

Ok

Ok then two years is not justice for their Title IX funding which should be in danger based on the lack of institutional control....or in this case too much institutional control managing the situation expecting the rest of the nation to not care and to say enough of this....

Hilarious. Considering their performances against Clemson, NC State, and Louisville, I think he should be much more concerned about simply winning

Make no mistake, this whole thing is pathetic, but I'll have to say...

The thought of MSU possibly catching a Winstonless FSU in the playoffs is appealing

Their Title IX funding is not really in jeopardy unless somebody finds a smoking gun where FSU directed the police dep't to not fully investigate, which I doubt is out there. What the federal gov't is asking for is for schools to deny due process to men in order to ensure the safety of their Title IX funding. For private schools, that could at least possibly work, but public universities have to provide due process, so courts aren't going to allow the federal gov't to condition Title IX money on schools violating constitutional requirements (probably won't even allow it for private schools). This case is being latched on to bc the facts look bad and it's high profile. If it wasn't h igh profile, it would be too easy for the fed gov't to get laughed out of the room. It's going to be a delicate balance for FSU to defend itself in the Title IX suit while protecting its image without opening itself up to financially crippling lawsuits later on.

Yeah, usually when you're trying not to run up the score on someone, you actually have the lead. And I'd hate to see how bad he would have beat Wake Forest if he had run up the score on them. Jamies Winston threw a TD pass while they were up 33-3 with less than 10 minutes left in the game.
