I think its important to pay some respect to Jim Ellis as well. Jim has handled Jack's situation admirably throughout the whole week. I particularly appreciated how he pointed out his professional and personal respect for Jack over the years and also I loved him descripting everyone who came to shake Jack's hand and speak to him yesterday before and after the game.
With all that being said, its my personal opinion that Jim should take Jack's position IF he wants it. It would only be fitting and I think he deserves it. I've always enjoyed Jims commentary and would like him to continue that. As far as who would work along beside him I dont know but I'm sure Scott and the gang will find someone good(hopefully within the university's family).
And from one bulldawg to another I would like to thank Jack for his service and dedication to the university he loves so much and I also to Jim Ellis I appreciate your work and hope you continue it for a long time to come.

I really want him to continue to do baseball. I really like him calling the baseball games and don't want to lose him there. I hope they offer him the football and basketball position but I hope that does not mean we lose him for baseball.

I cannot handle losing Jack for football and basketball and then losing Jim for baseball, he is fantastic at calling the baseball games.

I want Jim to make the call on what he wants and doesn't want to do but he's such a staple with his baseball broadcast. The Masters grand slam, all the World Series calls, it's all a legacy in it's own right.

He ALREADY does football, basketball and baseball. If he slides over one seat to the play-by-play job for football and basketball, why would that affect baseball? Not picking on you specifically, but I've seen this idea posted several times in the last few days, and I just don't understand why anyone would think that Jim losing baseball would ever be considered.

That's my only guess. Some may see the situation as replacing Jack's exact duties. I can't see him being replaced for baseball. Just too much of a legacy there but if he does play by play for basketball then he's going to obviously be away from alot of baseball broadcasts during the season overlap.

and he misses baseball until basketball is over if there is a conflict.

I thought the same thing - would he want the workload considering everything but he already does all 3 sports already? He might not decide to do it but his workload really wouldn't change.

it is important to myself and many others that he continue to do baseball. I have no clue what the AD office has in mind.

when I endorsed Jim for the job a couple of days ago I mentioned how disappointed Jim would be if he didn't get the opportunity to be the play by play guy for football and basketball. I mentioned I thought he would even give up the baseball job IF for some reason that was required of him.

I was simply trying to make the point that's how important it would be to him to take Jack's spot. By no means do I think he wants to give up baseball (because he loves doing baseball) or will give it up.

Like I said then, Jim's retired from the school now and I think he could do all three if he chooses with no issues.

I would not be aGAINST Bart Gregory moving to play by play for football and basketball. Bring in Wyatt for color for football and Shane Power for color for basketball.

Let Ellis keep doing baseball. The guy is 63 but I am all for Ellis having the first right of refusal.

I just love listening to him call the baseball games. He is good with football and basketball too, not trying to take anything away from him and I am sure it will be his decision, I just hope if he chooses to switch seats for football and basketball that he does not choose to hand over baseball to someone else.
