I think Mullen has his first taste of "This Ain't Florida" as it comes to recruiting. e

if not, then I'll hold out some hope .. if he has been down, and met w/ some of the coaches and seen the facilities, then I'll forget about the possibility

signing days a long way off - maybe see just how good of a recruiter Mullen really is

but after I looked into it closer I realized this guy was the only QB he was going after in this particular year that actually looked like he would pan out. I guess it doesn't hurt to bad if he is counting on Russell being the player he is supposed to be and never getting hurt.

Have fun in Morgantown *******, you are going to need a few more tribal tats and jersey T's to fit in but you should have a good time.

It's going to be tough to get 1-2 quality QBs at this point.

It's a horribly down year for the QB position and to top it off, most of the top 25 QBs have already committed. QB is the position where players commit the earliest.

There is no reason to panic though. There are guys who will emerge during their senior seasons and there are guys who will decommit if the school they committed to tanks their season or has coaching changes. There will also be some guys who decide to transfer.

But, I dont expect our season to be dazzling

See Ty Evans, Trey Rutland, Wes Carroll, Josh Riddell, Mike Henig, Cris Relf and the countless others who "walked on to play for Croom cause' my daddy played with him" types. Mullen may recruit 1-2 qb's a year and he will probly get 1-2 qb's a year but the quality will not be much better if we don't win any games. The "I coached Tebow and Alex Smith" line will wear thin if he can't produce. It will become harder every year until we start winning ball games.

Last year and this recruiting year that may work and that is because Tebow is still in college. But, it doesnt seem like it has helped much this year. When Tebow is gone so is that pitch and Mullen has to show he can develop a QB that is not the freak of nature that Tebow is. If Tebow is better this year than last, then the pitch will not work at all. It will just be shown that Tebow is a superior athelete who was made for the college game and Mullen had less to do with his success than Tebow's overall talent.

Do I believe Mullen had nothing to do with it? hell no. Mullen developed Tebow. He will just be more polished. But that's what these younger kids are going to think

He was almost committed to Bama and then they got another committment. Also has offers from Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Colorado. Scout has him ranked 28th, Brunetti was 24th.

Outside of Russell, he's still better than anything else Crxxms recruited.

And don't think Newton is not an option. No news is good news with him.

...Newton was pretty high on Tennessee. I didn't pull that out of my *** either, I read it somewhere on the interbutts.

mullen found him in houston, even though he was injured and not highly touted coming out of high school. sure, he didn't coach him at the collegiate level, but mullen knows what to look for in evaluating qbs. tebow was a no-brainer -- a nationally celebrated recruit. finding guys like alex smith and johnson and the guy at bowling green gives me hope that mullen can find someone who has the skills to succeed in his offense (or at least that he can design an offense around), even if they aren't a top-tier qb according to the recruiting services.

i'm not saying mullen is king midas with qbs. but i do think he'll be able to find someone who can produce.

right now, schools out and the weather is nice, when school is in and winters sets in it has all the charm of a steel factory. I wouldnt count the kid out just yet, hopefully Mullen shows some stick too its, and gets last look with this kid. One of his best friends is walking on at wideout for us this year, cant hurt.

the "LSU Fans Please Forgive Me" post. Or maybe he is aware and is also eagerly anticipating a Bubba Sparxx concert.

by his own interview, Alex Smith was a nobody out of high school. and i'm pretty sure the guy has lost a recruit before to another school, even at Titletown.

who got Mullened.

Or Felkered.

I am afraid that we are going to end up with Witt Haggart. The only saving grace with that is I really believe that Mullen knows how to develop QB's, and if we do get Haggart, I doubt he plays a lot anyway.
