OO isn't going anywhere.
12 is plenty.
Perry leaving is irrelevant to UK.

I would say between 30-35 % in college. However, the 4 is not just measured by their 3 pt%. Rebounding, passing, post play and defense are key measures as well. Everyone get’s hung up on 1 or 2 aspects of a game. If you have a stretch 4 in college who shoots the 3 at 33%, but passes well, rebounds well, scores in the post well and plays good defense, you better hang on to him. You may find 1 or 2 who do all the other things well and shoots over 35%, but, they are likely headed to the NBA, unless they are undersized. What is the percentage of a good stretch 4? 33% ?
Yeah it’s BS, but now he has an excuse. Instead of Knox is a second round pick or late first round he didn’t fail. He could make more money coming back so that’s what we did. #playersfirst! And miraculously that coach has changed his philosophy now that he is somewhere else.
If the right guy happened to be available, I could see adding a true point guard to be a late game specialist. A cool customer with a super solid handle, great court awareness and automatic at the free throw line. Don't care anything about size or shooting skills and not much about defense if Lowe and Aberdeen are fouled out or injured and we are protecting a lead in the face of full court pressure. If Oweh returns, no. We’re stacking practice bodies at that point. Everyone knows it, it doesn’t need explaining.
Like your thinking SandersIf he doesn't return, one realistic possibility for Perry's scholarship could be a guard from a low mid-major who could potentially still make more $$$ at the end of the bench at UK than he would staying where he is.
Maybe find a point guard or combo guard who could fill in if there were some significant injuries, but maybe has some limitations in his game - not a great perimeter shooter or maybe is a good shooter but not quite as athletic. Here are a few examples that may fit those criteria (No idea what kind of NIL money these guys are getting or their mindset of wanting to join a championship contender vs playing more):
Proximity and/or Pope saw first hand as an opponent:
Miles Rigsby - Troy
Dezayne Mingo - Marshall
Marvel Allen - Dayton (has horrible history of injuries, so not sure about this one)
George Kimble III - EKU
Don McHenry - WKU
Playing at lower level (non P5)
Denver Anglin - Rice
Amaree Abram - La Tech (transferred to La Tech from Ole Miss, so he probably wants more playing time)
Dominick Nelson - Utah Valley
Kezz Giffa - High Point
Seth Hubbard - Toledo
Oh, I’m a tick shy of 100% certain (nothing is that, huh?) that he will be back. My only disagreement is he’s on draft boards. I’d love to be proven wrong about it. I spent way too much time trying to find them.1000% but does not mean I did not check the date of the articles. It also does not mean that info is not out there on the WWW that shows Oweh as a late 2nd round pick.
My whole point was that OWEH will be back. He will only go in draft with solid first round money. We are getting on each other over agreeing (i think) that OWEH will be at KENTUCKY this year (summer on) to hopefully help us reach another final four and chance to win it all.
A poster earlier mentioned Briscoe and Edwards. Both correct. Can’t believe I forgot about Edwards. Not a real answer, but what about the dragon?
Just anything.
As in what happened to...don't even remember his name.
100%. Very versatile players. This team is built to withstand some injuries if we have toAgreed.
I think everyone is a little gun shy right now after all the injuries hit last year and how they hit the same position (PG).
I think Pope addressed this issue by getting some versatility on the roster.
PG Lowe/Aberdeen/Johnson/Chandler
SG Oweh/Chandler/Aberdeen/Johnson/Williams/Lowe
SF Aberdeen/Williams/Chandler/Oweh/Johnson/Noah
PF Dioubate/Jelavic/Garrison/Quaintance/Noah/Williams
C Garrison/Quaintance/Moreno/Jelavic
No one is ever injury proof, but having this many players that can play different positions should help tremendously.
Hope he stays way off the draft boards, for selfish reasons. That is why he is in my profile pic. He and I talked last spring and I told him he was my guy. i told him he was built more like a LB. He loved talking to all the fans that day.Oh, I’m a tick shy of 100% certain (nothing is that, huh?) that he will be back. My only disagreement is he’s on draft boards. Can we spray for them? It’s the sky is falling crowd. Unreal how they pop up like dandelions.
Typical sky is falling crowd negativity. Some people just can’t be happy and excited with what is stacking up to be a top three portal class. Is Oweh on ANY NBA Draft board going above the 60th pick if at all?????
I haven’t seen ONE!!!
So where is the OP and some others getting that Oweh is staying in the draft?????
Source? Link?Oweh is going to make 3.5 Mill next year at Kentucky he definitely not leaving.
I would like that point guard to be a 6'7 defensive juggernaut also, please.
He doesn't.How do you know how much he is making ?
I honestly don't see any one UK player making 3.5 million a year and no I don't have a source or link I just have common sense.Source? Link?
That's what the 15th pick in the NBA draft makes. Seems unlikely.I honestly don't see any one UK player making 3.5 million a year and no I don't have a source or link I just have common sense.
Oweh established a bunch of goodwill by competing his butt off last season and making a loyal return for a big run next year. I can see Pope paying him two million and maybe including some performance incentives. i.e., SEC Player of the Year, All-SEC, Final Four, etc. No way, however, is his base $3.5.That's what the 15th pick in the NBA draft makes. Seems unlikely.
If Ament got 4M from UT (not saying those numbers are correct), then Oweh for 3.5M doesn’t seem that far fetched.Oweh established a bunch of goodwill by competing his butt off last season and making a loyal return for a big run next year. The only thing I can think of is the requirement of going to class, if they even have that now. I might even contend that the SEC competition is somewhat comparable to the G League. If Ament got 4M from UT (not saying those numbers are correct), then Oweh for 3.5M doesn’t seem that far fetched.
If those numbers are correct, that’s pretty wild.
You are going to see more and more players stay in college instead of going to the draft, if this is true.
If you are a top 30 player, you go. If you are not you come back and make serious bank.
Unless you can get a guaranteed contract, why in the world would you want to leave and make peanuts in the G-League when you can make bank in college?
I know you said this, but nobody knows how much anybody's making. If Ament got 4M from UT (not saying those numbers are correct), then Oweh for 3.5M doesn’t seem that far fetched.

It's a different time. Cal rode the wave of One and Done to a lot of wins. That dried up and now he has fallen into the good fortune of the NIL game. He's getting players to come back that would have been gone after their Freshman season if not for NIL.y’all setting yourself up to be devastated when Oweh doesn’t come back. You learn nothing under cal?
This is a different world where guys make more money staying in school than being a late draft pick. It is even a different world for Cal too. Not saying Oweh is a lock to return but two years ago he was a lock to leave. That is definitely not the case now.y’all setting yourself up to be devastated when Oweh doesn’t come back. You learn nothing under cal?
he's not projected to be drafted at all. So unless he's in a hurry to play overseas, he should be back.y’all setting yourself up to be devastated when Oweh doesn’t come back. You learn nothing under cal?

Where did I say that Oweh is leaving? My simple question was does UK sign anyone else. Why this simple question is so hard for some of you to comprehend is mystifying to me. Ask the question will UK sign anyone else & your response is Oweh is coming back, Oweh is coming back, Oweh is coming back. OK, OK. OK I get it Oweh is coming back. But back to the original question, will UK sign anyone else.Dude we have 12 players counting Oweh how many players do you want ? You aren’t going to get superstars to come warm the bench to be your 13th player . Let’s just say Oweh didn’t come back I’m sure Pope would get someone to replace him still that will be 12 players. Pope did a FANTASTIC job with the 12 he’s gotten and like I said Oweh is on no draft boards and he can make more on the NIL money he will get at UK then some over seas money or NBA 2 way contract. Mark my words Oweh is going no where and we have our 12 player roster.
I think many of us were responding to the post of we fans being "devastated" if he doesn't come back.Where did I say that Oweh is leaving? My simple question was does UK sign anyone else. You haven't heard? Breaking news Oweh to AR.y’all setting yourself up to be devastated when Oweh doesn’t come back. You learn nothing under cal?
I mean counting Oweh we have 12 players. I just don't see who would want to in this day and time would want to come and be the 13th guy. We have 5 , another 5 and then 2 all solid players. That's 2 1/2 teams basically I mean we couldn't even get a homegrown Kentucky boy to stay on the roster as the 13th player. So my answer is no and I'll be shocked if we get anymore than 12.Where did I say that Oweh is leaving? My simple question was does UK sign anyone else. Gabriel. I don't think Vanderbilt. Some were drafted and busted...Teague.Justin Edwards, I think.
Edit: Briscoe? Mulder?
Vanderbilt was drafted in the second round by Orlando.Gabriel. I don't think Vanderbilt. Some were drafted and busted...Teague.
It's a turkey shoot after you go through the lottery.
