He's not big enough to do it every play and take the pounding. Denard Robinson missed lots of time with Michigan, Taylor Martinez got banged up and started sucking at Nebraska. Pat White missed a game or so every year at WV. All of those were in weak defensive conferences, too. What makes anyone think a similar guy would somehow do better in the SEC?
