Mississippi State is on a path to become the Memphis State of the SEC. The needed announcement must be made by either the AD or State's President. The AD must say, "Dan Mullen is out. We have made to phone calls to raise enough money to change our football future. A search will begin immediately to have a new, experienced head coach in place no later than the last bowl game of this season, and sooner if possible."

If that announcement isn't made by the AD, the following announcement must be made by the President: "I have made the decision to change our football future. We are buying out the remainder of the contracts held by our AD and head football coach. We will begin a search for more experienced and capable people who have shown they can build programs that compete well in a conference as strong as the SEC."

Absent either of those announcements, you, your children and your grandchildren must get ready for more of the football disappointments we've seen since the early 1950's. Those disappointments have seldom been interrupted by the briefest glimpses of success.

Signing off to crawl back under the house.

And exactly how much $$$$ are you personally putting up to buy him out or are you waiting on $$$$ from someone else?

Your announcement is about as close as we'll get to that.

You serious man? It sucks to lose but we we weren't in any sense suppose to be auburn today. Sucks to lose like we did to another mediocre team, but jeeze Louise.

Out of curiosity, how much IS Dan's buyout? I have no idea...

I don't think that was ever released publicly. I just remember some sheepish remarks about how we don't have to worry about keeping Dan here if he wants to be here. Probably means it's an astronomical buyout which explains his "I don't give a damn" sideline demeanor and approach to the game.

Dan Mullen is comfortable.
