i could care less what our offense is called... as long as we score a lot more than we have beenNot surprising to me, some players said the other day that Shannon Dawson's stuff was gone out of the the football offices. I thought Stoops would announce it yesterday on the radio but didn't. Stoops is strongly considering going the non-Air Raid route...

My pick would be Eddie Gran at Cincy now.
Stability is preferable, but you can't put stability over competence.Welp. I can't decide if this is good news or bad news. Leaning toward bad news unless the new offensive coordinator can teach our receivers to catch the ball.
I don't blame him for leaving! Who would want a coach constantly shadowing you and keeping you from doing your job! And Air Raid! What a joke! We have not had that since the 90's!
Looks like he decided that 3 yrs ago because that offense is yet to resemble an "Air Raid".Not surprising to me, some players said the other day that Shannon Dawson's stuff was gone out of the the football offices. Thank goodness. I really have no idea who they may go after though.

frost-! I like your choice and he would be a good one. I know he doesn't make near the money Dawson made at UK. Also opens up another fertile, recruiting area in Ohio. Let's see what happens. Plus D J Elliot.

not a bad point, but all reports are that Coach Dawson was under the same type situation at WVU. Part of me wonders if it could be a case of him not really understanding the position and almost expecting the HC to do most of the calling. Since Stoops is more a defense guy, I can see where this would cause trouble.Goes perfectly with the thread I posted yesterday. Stoops was involved way too much in the offense and either he fired Dawson because of lack of production or Dawson left because of too much interference from Stoops. Either way I knew it wasn't good by the way my friend told me the players weren't happy with the offense.
In addition to really poor production on the field, Dawson did not help his cause by being a prick to the media. If you are lighting up the scoreboard, you can get away with that, if not, you look like a thin skinned jerk. Even when things are going bad, there is such a thing as professionalism, which you would like the coaches who represent your university to show in public.
Further, just yesterday, Stoops said in the LHL that he wished P. Towles well and that he had the ability to "play on Sunday". Well, why then was he unproductive in his 4th year, and ultimately benched for an unproven freshman, who proved even less productive? And now we don't even have Towles as an option next year, whoever the OC is.
Get rid of that f'd up formation where we had the TE and Fb and RB bunched up near the QB. I hated that formation all year.
I'm a firm believer that barker is a way better qb going forward. In addition to really poor production on the field, Dawson did not help his cause by being a prick to the media. unfortunately for Dawson he walked into a situation that needed him to be a miracle worker...
Hopefully CMS realizes that Dawson wasn't able to succeed because of what he had to work with...
Dawson isn't with out fault, but I don't put it all on him...the entire offensive staff needs to be overhauled...
Stoops needs to knock really knock the next hire out of the ball park...his career may depend on it...
Actually that formation was a safety valve for the QB because of the Oline.
A lot of Air Raid teams use that set. It's what is used when the offense wants to go power. I've called it a full house set even though it's actually a 3-0 and not a 3-2. Just like the name better I guess. Anyway the set works fine we just way over used it.

Did you ever see Mumme run it?
Agreed that's the problem. The set worked until teams started loading the box. Once they took that away we had nothing to fall back on.Yeah but SEC teams figured out that you can load the box and play man to man on the outside guys and blitz like crazy. When you have 1.5 seconds to throw you can't do much.
