Woody is a class guy and a very talented writer. i will miss him. He always admired Nebraska--and for him to put Lincoln in a short list of cities like Dublin and Florence is evidence of that.

Always thought his sense of humor was not for everyone and that was ok. He was better on the TV than in print later on in his career, imo.

Agree, his sense of humor was much better on the tube vs in print.

He is a funny guy, but was never a big fan of his hypocrisy. He was all over TO for not booting LP from the team, stating that any sort of assault on a woman requires that you removed from your job or position, whatever it is. But when he punched out his secretary he was adamant that he should not be punished by the Denver Post, as he was under a lot of stress and had had a few drinks. Plus, he really didn't hit her "that hard, it was more of a hard push." Yeah, a hard push to her face with his fist.

We were going to go to Florence next spring but given the article am changing plans and will plan to spend a week in Lincoln

how can he have Lincoln on the list but not include Memorial Stadium as one of his favorite stadiums?? Did Lincoln make the list because he treasured his visits to the Lester F Larsen Tractor Museum?

I remember his article before the 1989 NU CU game. Haven't liked him since.

Yeah, I seem to remember him taking on quite an anti-Nebraska stance on just about everything. I think he was pretty despised back in the day.
