Just said we could win the West and Dak was a Dark Horse Heisman candidate. Said Chris Jones was unblockabke. Richard Seymore 2.0.

I hope I'm not embellishing, sort of, but he made a comment something along the

lines that after spending some time around our defense this spring he thinks they are the closest to NFL quality in the conference.

Wasn't he jocking us for this year during a game in the middle if the year last year when the team was struggling?

Some of the comments in this thread remind me of ones I read about this time in 2000...

I only have five games booked for the 2014 season so far. LSU/MSU is one. Could be a massive, massive moment in the SECW.

I will go on record right now and say we won't beat LSU. In fact, we'll lose by at least a TD. They own us. I don't care if we are on the upswing and they lost a lot from last year.

He was ahead of the curve. If they're even in the conversation at Week 7, I'm ecstatic. I'm just glad that he wasn't just speaking to the homers but ramping up the rhetoric as kickoff gets closer.

I'm with

you, Rabbi, I see 7-5 or 8-4 as the likeliest of results, due to our normal shitting the bed when expectations are high.

It will be a massive, massive ***-whoopin.
This game is a complete outlier every season. MSU isn't as bad, and LSU isn't as good as the always laughable final score indicates. If chalking this one up as an "L" every season makes me a bad fan or something, the team can feel free to prove me wrong any decade here now.

"Forget it, kid. It's Chinatown."

But you survived a day spent in a field while some people pretended to enjoy hearing the same Big & Rich song played 20 times, so you're used to such masochism.

While I was skeptical last year and predicted 5-7, I think we'll win 9 regular season games this year.

I think you need to take another look,

We haven't had talent and depth like this since 98, have some confidence.

We went 8-5 that year in a vastly inferior SEC. LSU, who went 3-8, beat us 41-6. We won the West, but lets not act like that was a juggernaut team.

General, it's time for you to show some

Leadership*

Seeking to inspire his men, Patton developed a flashy image and routinely wore a highly polished helmet, cavalry pants and boots, and a pair of ivory-handled pistols. Traveling in a vehicle featuring oversize rank insignias and sirens, his speeches were frequently laced with profanity and espoused the utmost confidence in his men. While his behavior was popular with his troops, Patton was prone to indiscreet remarks which often stressed Eisenhower, who had become his superior in Europe, and caused tension among the Allies. While tolerated during the war, Patton's vocal nature ultimately led to his relief.

Guys, I think we need to hang a moniker on this team since it arguably could be the best MSU team in the last couple of decades.

My vote ( courtesy of Mr. Dixon and my favorite play of all time ) goes to:

"That's some want too, that's some desire!!"

If this team has that, then start looking for rooms in Atlanta.

Seriously. Anything less than 8 is disappointing. If we don't win 10 this year, I don't see it happening. This team is built like Mullen imagined in 2009. We have depth at skill position and the D looks pretty stout too.

Yes, I think this year begins where we can start truly making assessments on what Mullen can achieve with our program. If we win 9+ then I think we can be very confident going forward that we can start competing with the big boys on a somewhat yearly basis. However, if after all these years of team building we are still at the 7 to 8 win range then its definitely going to raise concerns that with Dan that's as good as we will ever be.

They were within a touchdown in the 4th Qtr there in 2012. A late Pick-6 made the score lopsided. So, for the past two season, they've played the Bangles close for three quarters. Maybe they can keep the wheel on the wagon for a little longer this time around. LSU is due for an implosion with everyone getting out like rats on a sinking ship.
