First off, I know we have some work to do, and that we're in the middle of a season.

- Senior QB coming back, who has shown he can chunk the ball around and move the ball

- If Smith gets his medical redshirt, which seems likely, we don't lose a single player from our OL 2 deep. OL may develop into a strength over another year, even Clausell (cautious). Nothing but good reinforcements coming as well.

- Two experienced TEs with good hands

- We are not losing a single RB

- Losing some WR, yes, but Rumph, we're looking at you. Good QB can make receivers look really good.

At the end of the day, I think our most productive offensive year will be next year. I think all the effects of above GREATLY outweigh losing 4 senior WR.

Edited: On another note, looks like Rumph was a QB in high school. Hmm, sort of supports my law that you recruit based on talent, not need.

So THAT is why, as a 4* receiver "talent" at 6'5, he ended up in JUCO out of highschool with no real offers huh?

Too bad...it was a really good post until you got to this part.

Hi, I am Mr. Negative. I have some questions.

Our quarterback has played one SEC team. Let's don't anoint him as anything beyond what he is yet.
God bless Tobias, but if he gets another year, how many games will he play next year?
Is having all the starters back always a good thing? Some guys cap out at a level that's not all that good.
Someone needs to remind Koenning and Mullen and Russell we have a TE on the field since I don't think they have a catch since Auburn.
Don't speak to soon. Some guys don't like a four way time-share.
If a good QB can make receivers look good, then why do we need Rumph? We have a stable full of them already.

I'm just feeling argumentative. Hope you're spot on.

OLs seems to always get better with age.......

Ask Auburn, who's line help cost Tuberville his job when they were sophomores, then helped Chizik win the National Championship when they were seniors.

Same OL that got Croom run out of town when they were sophomores helped Mullen finish top 15 when they were seniors (mainly Sherrod and Brignone, but who cares about details).

And, it's widely known in college football coaching circles that the OL is the heart of your football team.

No, it's still a good post......

You're just a blithering idiot, I've come to realize.

High school QBs are a gold mine of football talent. Where were all Johnthan Banks' offers? Courtney Taylor? Sometimes they are realized sometimes they aren't. Dee Bost, Kaleb Eulls, all these guys played QB. Small towns put the best athlete behind center and go with it. They can all play a variety of positions.

Not to ruin your point or anything, but Eulls and Banks also played their respective positions in HS as well. Did Rumph also play WR in HS?

Nothing like throwing in a basketball player's name in the middle of a football recruiting discussion to help your argument.

It definitely helps my point, which is a good one......

....and so did you, by further pointing out that those athletes entrusted with playing QB can play a variety of positions well.

Don't bring hurt feelings from the other thread into this one. Engie whines enough on his own.

That is classic coming from you! Especially toward someone who makes you look like a moron in every argument, and unfortunately now will have to again.

Rumph grew up in the shadows of Williams-Brice Stadium...Columbia, SC born and raised. SMALLLLL TOWN KID! Only 800,000 living in his metropolitan area. Hate how those small-town diamonds can't get the exposure that they deserve! He attended every camp at SC(as a WR). Yet Spurrier didn't offer him, why? He would be the logical heir to Alshon's role this season. Yet SC didn't offer. Explain it to me?

Truth is, he was beyond a grade risk, and everyone knew he was going to JUCO. Rumph is a JUCO All-American, a top 10 overall JUCO talent, top 3 JUCO receiver, that is 6'5....playing in our LAP in Goodman, MS. Tell me again just HOW this confirms your "law"(lol at that dubmass THEORY you are now referring to as "law") that we recruit based on talent and not need? We graduate 5 senior receivers, including all starters. We only bring back 3 or 4 guys with any kind of experience. Wouldn't that make a ready-to-go stud JUCO receiver a NEED? Yeah, I thought so. Of course, we also went hard after Quintavious Leslie(committed to LSU) before we really went after Rumph as well. We are taking a JUCO receiver in this class, if not two(now that DeVante Scott blew out a knee). If it's not Rumph, it will be the next guy in line. Of course, if we were just recruiting TALENT AND NOT NEED, why would we recruit any JUCO receivers at all? Those were the only 2 highly ranked ones we've got a chance with, yet we are still recruiting others? Why? If we were recruiting TALENT and not NEEDS, why wouldn't we just move on to another position with more highly ranked guys?

Link to "whining"?

Not my fault I call you out when you are being an idiot and EVERYONE subsequently agrees with me. Seems you are still butt hurt about being proven wrong last time... Should be incensed by the time this one is over!

Mad, bruh?

No, I didn't read your 3 paragraph diatribe.

I will make this clearer for you. Rumph is a 4* WR with offers from everyone. He played QB in high school. Represents alot of talented players out there, typically the ones put at QB, who can play multiple positions. If you can't comprehend that, God help you.

You really mad.....

oh you still think you called me out because I said Clausell is getting Russell hit alot? Go ask Russell what he thinks. Take your stats with you when you go.

Everyone = "********" (your words) Ole Miss fan. Congrats, whiner.

Actually, it does nothing for your argument. The two you picked already played their college positions in HS, so the question of whether they could play those positions was not in question. There wasn't concern about where they fit on the field.

If you wish to use the "HS QBs are superior athletes" argument you will need to select two players who primarily played QB in HS, but translated their athleticism at QB to D1 football at a different position. I don't necessarily disagree that, especially in MS HS football, the best or one of the best athletes is put at QB, but if you're going to promote it as some "law" you're going to need some factual proof that shows that recruiting HS QBs and putting them at other positions is as beneficial or more beneficial than recruiting other athletes.

How does him playing QB in highschool have **** to do with him being a 4* receiver? It has NOTHING to do with it! Yes, talented/athletic kids are often placed at QB in highschool. Who argued that point with you? Link to where I've ever said otherwise?

You are manufacturing a new argument because your *** got kicked in the old one.

You can't carry on a logical debate without fabricating side arguments... But yes, God help me!

What does an OL discussion have to do with recruiting TALENT not NEED? Your logic is incomprehensible. I had actually forgotten all about that argument and how stupid I made you look in it as well. Really difficult to keep up with all of your random ignorance spewed all over this board.

You are damn dumb. Re-read the thread.

I would help you, but I feel sorry for you. You're trying too hard. Many a ball buster have came and went and just like them, you're done.

Didn't he actually get picked as All-SEC or something?

So, even he wasn't entirely a lost cause. The other guy ***** monsta or whoever went in the NFL draft and they still went 2-10 so it's safe to say the rebels were the exception not the rule.

Reread what I quoted and argued. Oh, that's right you "didn't read" but are no doubt attempting to argue.

Not my fault you are arguing 4 different things at once, none of which make sense, and can't follow simple logic for long enough to make it through a single ridiculous point you are attempting(failing) to make.

I've heard both sides and...

...I'm ready to make a ruling. Engie uses reason, facts, and sound arguments. Spanky is a petulant 17ing dumbass who thinks he's witty.

To Engie, keep it up. You destroying idiots makes my day.

To Spanky, you add nothing, please go die in a 17ing fire.

Engie is one of the best posters here and on other boards. If you are wanting to become an Internet bad *** by starting an oh so cool Internet fight, I would suggest you look for a different opponent. Your sissy slap fighting techniques won't win this one.
