Honestly, I am sick to my stomach for the kid. I might be alone here but I would have liked to have TSUN's D fully healthy when we ram the egg bowl up Bucky's ***.....base first.

Time out will depend on where the break was--near the middle or upper part, he could play now in a cast. Garry Frank was able to keep playing for us with a broken fibula. LB Jack Youngblood played a season with one in the pros. If its near the ankle though, you have can't play for awhile. He'd miss this spring, but will be fine by fall.

Per reports, barring any unexpected set-backs he'll be ready for fall practice. BTW...shame on you grown men/women for being happy about a kid breaking his leg. Also, Lettuce, I laughed...good stuff.

Well, that is encouraging news. Better hope he responds better than Sherrod did. Sherrod was/is out of football for nearly two years and he broke his fibula as well.

I would think if he's having surgery on it today that it must be worse than the

usual fibula break but I'm not a physician or pt. Is having surgery on a broken fibula common? I know it is on the tibia but I know several folks that have broken their fibula and all they did was set the bone and immobilize it for 2-3 months. Surgery would have to prolong the recovery.

Didn't see Bruiser's post, but there's a possibility that when faced with an actual injury, he would have possibly (probably) recognized that while it was a rival, it wasn't anything to be happy about.

I don't know anything about what kind of person CJ is (although his tweets make him look like a piece of ****, or maybe just a normal college student that is dumb enough to not know what thoughts he should share with the public and which thoughts he should keep between friends), and certainly don't have anything for him, but still don't understand gloating over an injury.

Having fixed a couple hundred the last three years it is fairly routine. They are certainly not all the same and some are worse than others. Some require a strict 8 to 12 wk minimum on crutches if the ligaments between the tibia and fibula are ruptured. Fixed two NFL players fibulas this past season and they were back playing at 4 weeks (as starters). Granted they had an extra step used in the surgery which is certainly off label use that helped and is certainly above and beyond the standard of care.

He should be out of a boot within 3 months no matter the degree of injury.

Why would surgery prolong the recovery? It's essentially setting it...

with pins and a plate and allowing it to heal that way instead of resetting just the bone itself. I'm not 100% but I would think it would end up healing stronger that way as well. The only way the recovery would be longer would be if it didn't heal properly, which would typically be because of infection or CJ not doing like he should. From what I've seen, these repairs are fairly straight forward and shouldn't keep him out of action any longer than 3 months.
