If true then I am rapidly growing weary of James. As long as he has been here and still not in playing shape and now possibly academically ineligible. Sounds like he is need of a serious come to Jesus meeting.

Just for the record

MSU would rule him out, not the NCAA.

ETA- 1rst post plus that oversight makes me question this post. Could be right but I'm skeptical

See Free's post. And way sacrifice yourself for the greater good Donger! I imagine you will soon once again be bathing in canine cologne.

Finals were Aug. 8-9 and final grades were due Aug. 12. Not that I think it's a great loss if he is ineligible, but I doubt it took 2 weeks for them to figure out he wasn't going to be eligible this fall.

We screwed up not taking a DT in this past class. We're only going to have two underclassmen DTs on the roster next year, and you never know how much longer Quay or Nick will remain on the team.

Psh... come on man. We have linemen. A lot of them. I agree that grabbing a JUCO guy would have been nice, but I think it ultimately would have just made the depth chart even more cluttered.

I expect a LOT of 3-4 this year, and while James would be the best DT for the 3-4 there are a couple of other guys I'd feel comfortable starting there.

There will be some JUCO guys in this class. Don't you worry your pretty little head. Never count out the JUCO system in Mississippi.

on this

If he was ineligible, wouldn't that rule him out of all football related activities until his grades were in order? I can assure you that he has been practicing.

If true that's just inexcusable in this day and age. I know it happens but with academic study centers, tutors @ your disposal, and academic advisers to keep an eye on your progress it should be impossible to be academically ineligible. That's w/ all the allowable help available, not to mention the professors that look the other way and help out and other favors that get called in for athletes
