I hate when people say this about Paraguay after we dominate them. Paraguay beat Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay in qualifying…. They only allowed 6 goals in total in qualifying. People were questioning if the USMNT would get a result from them last night and now that USA dominated the whole game it’s now Paraguay must not be that good. Paraguay is light years better than South Africa, and Mexico although controlled the game showed they were anywhere near what the UsMNT showed last night
I hope you’re right. I’m going to keep my expectations low and hope they continue to blow them out of the water.

U.S. really dominated ball control. I was impressed their play and you could tell Paraguay was getting frustrated.

Flew into Newark yesterday (from Copenhagen) and the airport was buzzing. Customs was jammed and a lot of passengers were dressed in national colors. There was a big group from Norway on my flight wearing custom jerseys that had a slogan on the back that I translated on ChatGPT as “Farmers From The North”. The party started early!

Thousands of empty seats at South Korea-Czech Republic game as World Cup price concerns escalate despite FIFA downplay

FIFA ticket prices have been absolutely outrageous.

I mean look at most of these games though, USA game had 70k+.. the Brazil game was full, Japan Netherlands was fulll, Scotland was full… you are going to have games that will be half full… curaçao vs Ivory Coast will be one of those games. Watching the cursor game
Now and you have 70k Ecuadorian fans going nuts…

Agree. There are some games that just don’t have the appeal, have few fans that travel or a limited population of that ethnicity here in the US. Those will be in the minority though. Some very exciting game so far with last-minute heroics. As with the World Cup, once we get to the knockout round things really amp up also.

Mighty Spain can’t crack Cape Verde. What a game for the CV back line and keeper.

World Cup is wide open this year.

Spain’s coach was way too slow subbing in lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo and Nico Williams. Poor job by Spain allowing a tie. Btw, Atlanta is doing an amazing job with the World Cup.

1st games have a history of not being kind to top teams.. Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia last World Cup in the first game, Spain lost to Switzerland in the first game the year they won it.

Spain is going to be fine. That midfield is awesome. I’m not sure I can see them winning with Oyarzabal as the #9, but they really don’t have anyone else.

Didn’t really understand the Paraguay shade, that team isn’t bad at all. USA looked great.
Paraguay isn’t bad, I don’t think they were ready for the big time and add in the USA played completely differently and way above they way they’ve been playing for over a year now

Typical France game. It actually got outplayed the entire first half and lucky no goals were scored against them. Then, France’s lightening strikes and they win easily in the second half. All that talent and they do not dominate the match. But almost always pulls out a win.

Messi’s hat trick is just an example how great he is and was. To me, he is the best player that has ever lived.

I agree with Loki that the hydration breaks are bs. If it’s very hot, then I agree with hydration. But, hydration breaks in a dome in Atlanta is a joke. Completely breaks up the rhythm of the game and really helps a team that is on the ropes.

Wednesdays games were good. Also really liking how other countries fans are celebrating in host cities. The Scots have taken over Boston. No Scotland, no party.

I gotta kick out Japanese fans to bring plastic bags to the game and clean up all of the trash in them after game is over.

These foreign fan bases are really awesome showing appreciation and admiration of this country. There’s a lesson to be learned there.

There's a great HBOMax documentary series about the journey of the USMNT from 2022 WC in Qatar to the naming of the 2026 WC Roster.

There is also a pretty good documentary series on Paramount+ about the history of the USMNT post WWII up until the 1994 WC.

Netherlands looked tough yesterday running over Sweden. Brazil also, but not sure how good Haiti is.

I'm just a casual World Cup fan but this has been an excellent Group stage so far. Most games are competitive or compelling and Stars are doing Star things. Messi with 5 goals in 2 games, Mbappe and Haaland with 4, USA looking like their best team in my lifetime and all the games are in U.S. timezones so I can watch them all. I'm really enjoying it.
