Worst call ever?

No …. You shouldn’t have any arguments. That was about as damn terrible as it gets. Even Matt Wyatt said in his 30 plus years of football, he could not fathom that call.
The only one that comes to mind is when all Miami’s coach cristobal had to do was take knee to win the game but ran it and fumbled and then lost
I am hoping it was Shapen who changed the play at the line of scrimmage, and it wasn't Lebby.
I mean, punting at the Georgia 30 doesn't seem so baffling now
The four QB runs in a row, with Shapen being the last one, was WAY worse. The last one I u derstand, and we had it nailed, but it wasn’t executed.
If that is what happened, he needs his NIL frozen and never see the field again.
Can't do it - we have had some rough losses but this one was wrecked by the HC!!
The only thing close to it I can think of is Mullen taking a delay of game late against LSU in 2015 when we had a timeout. Then we ended up missing a 50+ yard FG to lose.
But this was worse.

The thing about that one, IIRC, is that we had just gone for it on 4th down from their ~40.
Yeah. And we had a kicker who was barely better than our punter. And I think we actually got a defensive stop after that.
There were so many parts of it that were bad.
1. We get no yards on first down. We are in field goal range. There are 29 seconds left. 2nd and 10. Calls our last 17ing timeout. Inexcusable.
2. Anyone with sense would now run the ball. Rush to the line. Spike it to stop the clock. Kick the field goal. But we shouldn’t have been in that situation if he had not called timeout. Without the timeout, we should have run the ball, let the clock wind down, call time out. Take our time to set up and kick the field goal. As it stood, the best case scenario was to gain 10 yards and have the clock stop momentarily to move the chains. It’s still not as good as having the time out to set up the field goal.
3. Rather than run the ball, we call an over the middle pass play. So, he knew we wouldn’t be stopping the clock unless we spiked it or the pass was incomplete. If you have to throw it, go for a damn out route and go out of bounds
4. Lastly, he said in the post game interview that he was trying to get 6 to 7 yards on that play. Are you 17ing kidding me? An over the middle dink and dunk pass with that in mind is absolutely insane. You never put the ball in jeopardy in that situation. You especially don’t do it for 6 damn yards when our kicker was within range already. He didn’t even dial up something for first down yardage. So, just run the ball.

The kick pick kick (or whatever it's called) was a pretty bad call by Cutabove. Not as bad as Heavy Lebby's call tonight though.

I scrolled down to say the same thing, Lebby and Billy's calls at the end were both perplexing. Matt was amazed as well at both of them

I am fully going with that is the worst call I can remember in MSU football......and I am a self professed alway go for it on 4th down.
There are no arguments to be made, that was a run play situation........and if I am saying that, then Lebby needs to sit down and assess his ability to make sound calls in that situation

Watching that he had a TD over the top to the corner. My Gosh, we do not have a QB on this roster!!!!
Lebby is even stupider than I thought.
Yep it was a TD if he throws it to the Pylon… Florida knew it was a pass the whole play.
Would have been a whole lot better if he said, “it was a dumb call.”
I've watched the NFL for several years. You throw it to where only your guy can get it or no one. Didn't even have to pay me $4M for that analysis.

I recorded the end of the UK/Texas game and am just now watching it - but Stoops did exactly the right thing, what Lebby should have done - kicked the FG to win (UK just kicked to tie the game, but it worked), or at least RUN the ball and then kick. UK took the game to OT.
Texas won in the first OT with a FG but at least UK did the right thing at the moment.
