Well ... if you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen. We're giving these players the honor of going to MSU totally free of charge. The least they can do is try, and trying includes going to class. Remember ... it's a university and academics comes first, athletics second ... or at least that's the way it should be.

Not Stans' players. 150% guarantee you if Bost or a vocal senior was around A. We could play transition basketball. B. There would be someone kicking their asses for getting in trouble.

Say what you will about Bost. Nobody wanted to win more than him, and the only time I ever saw a fault with him was him being pretty blatant about how much he disliked the HC.

Are you crazy? Bost would be leader? Bost would be kicking their asses for getting in trouble? Bost got suspended TWICE in his senior season for a total of about half the year. How can he kick Steele's *** for getting suspended once for a measly 3 games? Bost was a freaking cancer. He was worried about himself, not winning.

We've got to change the culture, and Rick Ray is trying. As coach34 says, you set the tone in year 1. You can always ease up, but you can't toughen up. We tried the Bost/Sidney/Augustus way. It led to suspensions, fights in the stands, and total dysfunction. I can't believe you want that back.

I had a course last spring with Steele and Moultrie. It was an HR class. Moultrie came to the first two classes, probably dropped it. Steele sat in front of me and he was there everyday the class met. Even after an overtime win last season in Columbia, Steele was there the next day. I was impressed.

...Had principles of Macroeconomics with Steele last spring and I can count on one hand with leftovers how many times I didn't see him there.

If there is one season where our players deserve to smoke a little, it's this one.

He certainly didn't take over a program in near as bad shape as ours was in. I doubt Ray would get a 4th year with that record though.

Indiana was in shambles after Kelvin Sampson got busted for recruiting violations but this is a bad example because 1. It's Indiana arguably a top 5 program all-time and certainly a top 10 and 2. It's Tom Crean ya know Dwayne Wade's college coach.

I think he gets 4 years.

Especially after what he was left without and all the stoners from Stan's teams.

I know all about the shambles Sampson left Crean with. Still not as bad as what Stansbury left us with. Plus, like you say, it's Indiana.

What I mean by that is I wonder if Ray will be able to recruit top quality talent at MSU that will also abide by his strict standards of not 17in up academically or socially (smoking weed)

No offense, but I hate when people say this about Ray. What do you think the policies are at the top programs where a player like that might go? They aren't anymore lax than ours are.

Definitely ...

Like any good coach- you set the tone of your program in Year 1- you can always loosen up some- but you cant ever start lax and then tighten down.

Don't think that the definition of a "good" coach actually includes dismissing/suspending 33% of your team. So the coach doesn't deserve any blame for his players actions?

Seems like every transfer, dismissal or suspension was Stans fault when he was coach, but now, this is a sign of a 'good' coach.

And, not too long ago, you raving about Johnson and how Stans didn't give him a shot. That was 'before' he disappeared in the SEC, especially his last three games where he scored 3, 3, and 6 points, despite averaging over 24 minutes off the bench.

So, what changed?

Ray is still having to clean up Stands mess

And that wasnt me raving about Johnson. I havent said anything about him not playing last year. He was a true freshman- he didnt need to play and should have redshirted
