Would Diaz even consider going back to MTSU as HC if Stockstill left for ECU?

Or do you think that was discussed in the interviews? Veazey said Stockstill has been offered the job

But you never know. However, I am sure Diaz will be on their short list. They loved him up there.

that Tony Franklin, MTSU's OC, would also be a candidate, and at this point a more likely candidate for the HC job at MTSU than Diaz. That's assuming that he doesn't go to ECU, of course.

Plus, Manny Diaz is a guy that has only been a DC for only four years at a Sun Belt school. Granted, he did a good job at MTSU for sure, but if he does well at MSU, he could possibly parlay that into an even better HC opportunity.

Personally, I think he stays at MSU.

then he may be considered to move up to a mid-level school in the future. It seems like these guys can get lost in the mix of names, due to the lack of individual recognition. Yes, Derek Dooley did just get hired at UT, but that is an exception. If he does well at MSU as a DC then he could be considered for a upper-level program as either a DC (making twice as much as the head coach at MTSU with more recognition), or even possibly a head coach of a respected program. He can take this as an opportunity to prove that he can compete along side the top defenses in the nation, which are in the SEC.

that was one of the concerns discussed before we offered the job to Diaz...that Stockstill would leave and Diaz possibly be in a position to take the HC job. When he accepted the DC job you would have to assume that he knew he would not get it or did not want it. Surely with Stockstill interviewing and looking good for the East Carolina job before Diaz's interview with MSU this was discussed.

It is a gamble if he goes back to MTSU as the HC but it was a gamble for Dooley to take the HC job at LA Tech and it panned out for him. Take it Dooley had name recognition and Dias will not.
