Role. His organization around recruiting has been impressive, and I think he is a good ambassador for the N.

The late Steve Patterson is the answer to the trivia question: Who was the starting center on two UCLA national championship teams immediately after Kareem and just before Walton? When I was an administrator at ASU Steve was BB coach for a few years, but was “reassigned” to admin when wins were in short supply. I got to know him and work with him a bit in that role. He may have felt demeaned but it didn’t show. He was very professional and pleasant. Regardless, I can’t imagine Riley following a similar career path.

I don't think it would make sense, or he would take anything less than AD. And I don't see that happening.

Why? Because he's nice? Absolutely not, we should have left him in Oregon after our bout with the Ducks

It's a nice "thought" due to HCMR being a stand up guy with class.....but in reality as others have said....if he moves on, it's back to the northwest I think.

No because his staff gets recruiting
What your staff has done is certainly commendable. With that said, it is not unique and still has some ways to go to catch up to those ahead of the curve. He has done a great job of implementing best practices of other programs but what you guys probably need is more of an innovator. Well that is easier said than done, so maybe someone who can simply move you from being a multi-region recruiter to being a true national one. There are enough guys out there that have worked in programs that have done that...that even if your next head coach isn't one of them he can bring in some guys who can help design and build that infrastructure. Point being that you don't need Reilly to keep doing what you are doing...you can even take it up another level...it just needs to be a priority when hiring if this staff is not retained.
