It has been rather quiet from a recruiting standpoint this week. Can someone give a rundown of what they think about our remaining uncommitted top targets. (B Brown, R Brown, C Ward, Alford, etc..)

how we can basically get whoever we want in basketball and never lose to Bear investment packages, but in football they basically buy whoever they want if they want them bad enough.

Is it that they don't care enough about bball to try the same tactics? Or that we don't do our job with the football side?

Is this a dumb question? If so, just delete it, 17 it

the Bears given their past 2 yearcluster17 of a program & an extremely bleak 2012 outlook (3-4 wins max), then he will live to regret it much like another highly sought after Dandy Dozen recruitprobably is right now. I was talking with another State fan the other day about CJ. That guy has to have major regrets for making the decision he made.He could have stepped in and challenged for a starting spot in our LB corps, be headed to a bowl game, andbasically be assured of another winning season & bowl game in 2012. Instead, he will toil away on a team that very well may go winless in the SEC for a second straight year. No egg bowl trophy, no bowl game,no positive momentum in the program, and dwindling fan support.

holding out any hope for Ward anyway. Sounds like you've gotten new information that confirms we are pretty much out of the running. Oh well, I knew once the dead period got here and the Bears could put full focus on recruiting while we were away focusing on a bowl game that things would likely sour for us on any players still in doubt.

the Bear boosters actually care enough about what's going on with the football program to be in the heppin' bidness. That type of concern just doesn't exist for the basketball program.

Their basketball always has been (and will be). Their football team will have some good years every once in a while.

Seriously?

But yes on Brassell, Johnson, and Singleton.

2-10 Ole Miss, 6-6 MSU, or 11-1 Alabama? Ward can go to any school in the west and he's looking at picking the one who has won one SEC game in two years.

If you honestly think the only thing that a recruit takes into account is the schools' previous years record.

Playing time, family, proximity to home, all play a part in it.

Not sure why you're mentioning Bama's record when it's between us, State and Auburn.

His brother is on our football team, his mom wants him in state, and we don't have **** for DEs. It wouldn't be unheard of for him to sign with us.

DT, S, CB, QB and very little on the OL, but I dont see a bunch of 5 star prospects at those positions flocking to Oxford.

You really need to stop, there are those on this board that know what went down with CJ. I will give you guys Brassell, but CJ and Singleton were in foldthistime last year for State. If you get Ward then congrats, but i will never believe it was on the up and up. What kid in MS wants to go play for a joke as a HC and school that may set the all time SEC loss record? One that is bought

Somehow you still managed to pull players that were coveted every year though, even if it wasn't enough of them.

years courting him. I've seen him play every year in high school against my nephew and the understanding has been that OM has been recruiting him hard.

Now, what you think the definition of 'hard' is, tells you the story of why he will go somewhere.

Kid could change his mind. Fact is, CJ and Singleton would certainly like a do over and they might get in Ward's ear.

OM wont be down forever and they need kids like Ward to make the turnaround quickly. But money isnt going to get every kid they want. Those kids want to win.

<span class="post-title"><font color="#ff00ff">"You must be a ruhtard", as well as this Gem.

</font><font color="#000000">As a Special Ed teacher, I've been around plenty of "ruhtards"...quite frankly, I prefer their company. Whatever you say about them, they're definitely not "stupid".

On the other hand, any 5-* player signing with a school whose fan base is divided, who can't settle on a mascot, whose football team will probably win only 2-3 games again next year and go winless in the SEC, andhas had every tradition either struck down by the 14th Amendment, 1965 Civil Rights Act,or the Nuremburg Trials, is either dumber than a box of rocks or is getting paidtoplay.</font></span>

if you think anyone is going to buy that you guys didn't pay off CJ and Singleton. Everyone in Mississippi knows what happened there, including your stupid ***. This doesn't mean every recruit Ole Miss gets is paid but we have some pretty big examples from last year that points to a pattern. Nothing stupid about that you arrogant piece of ****.

honestly to get on here & say we were never in the running is just stupid. I've talked to him a couple of times & both times he REALLY likes Wilson. He likes Nix too. But OM doing what we all knew they would this year (Nutt leaving) has allowed ole Trooper to slip in & dig down on Ward. He and CJ are similar type players. Huge on upside, sometimes takes critical plays off. But again HUGE upside.

Does anyone have any inside info on him? He is a guy with tremendous upside. Smart kid with speed to burn. LSU gave him a serious look, but they are loaded with equally talented players already. Stanford and Purdue both want him, but I hear rumors that he doesn't want to play thousands of miles from home.

about ole miss buying players when msu has had jackie and melvin all these years is just beyond entertaining. i won't argue about whether we may have payed so and so, but you guys (for the most part) are too smart to be having this kind of dumbass conversation acting like msu doesn't. the really funny thing about CJ is the weekly stipend msu paid him the whole time he was committed. our coaches told him in SEPTEMBER..."keep taking the money till january" . and before anybody whines about whether that info is correct, just remember i'm the guy who told you way before signing day we'd sign 7 of the DD. flame away
