None of these Coaches get graded on their personal lives. Urban Meyer up and quit on Florida and now is the Head Coach of Ohio State. A winning coach trumps most baggage. Certainly will trump a little philandering and poor steering.

You just don't do what he did to the Falcons to an NFL team and ever get a second chance.

He now knows what so many of us have learned - there is no such thing as a secret. All this of course assumes he reconciles with wife and children.

The guy cheated on his wife with a employee and tried to cover it up or lie about it. He paid his price for that action. Lost millions of dollars and possibly his family. He should get another chance and yes I would hire him. He probably needs to wait a few years and do some PR work by working for some network covering college football or something for a while and rebuild his name.

i would love to have him. he is an incredible offensive coach (something we've never had) and recruits would love to play for him. after all, players want to succeed and potentially go to the NFL. they dont give a rats *** about whether he screwed jessica dorrell.

i could see him at kentucky or another lower level BCS conference school in a year or 2. i don't think he'll get a high major job right off the bat, maybe in 5-6 years if he's winning at a kentucky-type program and the arkansas incident has faded a little bit,a bigger programwill give him another shot.

i could see him going west, like maybe colorado or oregon st, or az st once their coach flops (o/u of 2 years). imagine a conference with chip kelly, rich rod, leach, and petrino. that's like 4 of the best offensive mind in the last10-15 yearsof CFB.

Conspired with his former employer to take his former boss and "friend's" job.
Quit on his team before the end if the season and didn't tell his assistants or players.
Had an ongoing affair.
Hired his mistress to a position she wasn't qualified for.
Lied to his boss after caught in the affair.

These are just the things we know about. This guy has a proven track record of being a liar and a scumbag. There is no way I would hire him for anything.

Let him sit for the year with the understanding that they would hire him after the season with a new contract that has a low buyout for the University, a huge buyout for him, lots of outs for specific and general acts of moral turpitude, and pay that is almost as good as before. The university gets to keep a good coach, avoid some of the flack they would have gotten from outsiders had they let him continue coaching, and have much more control over him in the future. Anybody but Petrino would also probably feel a lot of loyalty to a school that let him stay in the big leagues, rather than having to go to a mid-major for a few years to rebuild his reputation, when his shelf life as being one of if not the top offensive mind in the game is probably not that long.

After listening to sports talk in the Rock today, the majority of their fans would take (& want) himback. However the radio guys say no way he will be back as long as Jeff Long is AD. Which who, other than razorback fans, could blame Long.

"if you've EVER been an NFL coach, you can ALWAYS be an NFL coach" hypothesis. Of course, most previous testers of this were just crappy college/pro coaches welcomed back into the fold (why? because they were former coaches. Their hand was stamped, they come and go as they please), and not backstabbers like Petrino.<div>To the original question: would I hire him? Hell no.</div><div>Will somebody? Absolutely. He'll either be a splashy "lower-tier" college hire or quietly slip back onto an NFL squad.</div>
