Would you take the Texas DC job?

Hear me out.

The majority of the time, this is a no-brainer yes. Texas has the money, facilities, support, recruiting grounds...everything you need for a championship college team every year.

But, the situation as it is now, I wonder.

There is serious pressure in Austin right now after a 5 win season one year removed from the NCG. They haven't hired an OC yet. Do you risk going to TX for one year and face the possibility of being out on your *** if they fire Mack Brown. Texas would hire a HC that will probably bring his own staff. It would be difficult to prove your worth in one season.

Diaz is as safe in Starkville as any DC in the country right now. He would go into the TX job on the proverbial hot seat.

Just a lot of unknowns for the TX job to me. That is the only thing that I think may keep him in the Jewel.

Unless momma doesn't like Starkville, which I have a sneaking suspicion may be the case.

I guess what I'm saying is this is the absolute worst time to take a job at TX.

Perhaps the Worst Time at Texas >>>>> Best of times at MSU.

Mullen would leave the first chance he got, that Florida was a Top 5 program so he would want that and Miami is a powerhouse and an easier place to win a National Championship so Mullen will definitely take that job?

Just saying, when you have the fans, administration, and Athletic Department all supporting you and have built a base of good players it's not always so easy to walk into a situation where the coach is on a semi-hot seat and there wasn't a whole lot of talent sitting around waiting to kick ***. You also have to think that the Big 12 is in shambles and there is a whole lot of uncertainty there.

Parity in football is changing things. Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas... all unranked. TCU just won the Orange Bowl. Not saying Texas isn't a great and storied program, but people are catching up. And Mississippi State can pay a lot more money now that we could have before the new SEC contract. Teas is a better program than MSU, no doubt about that, but is the current situation better than what he has at MSU? I question that.

Either way, Manny should interview for other jobs and if he feels better at Texas and the money is good then by all means take the job. Dude is good and he's going to be a head coach some day. I wish him nothing but the best no matter what he decides to do.

And he'll always be welcomed in Starkville. The only negative is uncertainty surrounding how long Mack Brown will continue to coach.
