Lose 5 games by a total of 6 points last year? With just a bit of a change in luck they could have a pretty good season.

They have a new QB this year. A transfer who Joey Jones says has NFL written all over him. A big mobile guy. I guess we will see.

I have a friend whose son is on the team. Not only did they lose them, most of them were last play/last second losses. They weren't tacking on late TDs to lose by a a couple. They had leads and gave up last second points.

They also had first and goal against Tennessee with about two minutes left with a chance to tie or take the lead.

I have said for years and years and years that I wish MSU would set up shop in Mobile, in addition to the MS Gulf Coast. It's just a breeding ground for football (and baseball) talent, per capita. USA is taking advantage. USM built their teams of the past on Mobile players. Maybe not all the stars were from there but a sizable portion always were.

They also crushed St. Mark of Lafayette. If you believe ULL can go to Oxford and win, you should also be worried about this one.

USA is gonna be very good defensively.

Should be a 27-14 type game. Gonna be tight the whole way.

This reminds me of the Texas A&M @ USL (now Louisiana), in 1996. It was USL's first big home game, against a marquee opponent. A&M played flat, and gave them 3 of their 4 touchdowns off turnovers. Up one point, A&M's QB threw a pick-six from deep in their own territory, with a half minute left.

I'm not saying we pull that off. But, we better "be ready to play."

Obviously depth along the lines will be a huge advantage for the Bulldogs.

I think a big advantage for USA will be playing at home. And I'm not talking about crowd noise. Ladd Stadium's locker rooms can barely fit a full team. There's hardly any room to relax, stretch, hang out, etc It's going to be pretty uncomfortable for the MSU players, coaches and trainers especially after being spoiled with the comfortable confines of Davis Wade. I could see MSU coming out flat but ultimately winning going away due to depth and a pounding running game.

Hopefully USA will have an on-campus stadium soon because everything about Ladd Stadium is awful.
