I'm not ready to go there yet, but this is a bad team. Newby should not be the RB and our Dis terrible. I'd rather have a LB trying to rush the passer than McMullen. It's sad but mannnnn

It should be pretty obvious which team has the better athletes but considering the heat on Golden it is discouraging to also see which team is better coached.

So we don't even give a new coach/staff a season? GD people are dumb.
He'll get several seasons but a guy who is Social Security eligible isn't going to get a pass like a rookie head coach when his team lays an egg this size. We lost to team with less talent in BYU and now we are being clobbered by a team whose coach has planes flying banners calling for his head. We should expect more even in the third game.

We all know that. And I think every person here wants to see us have a successful season. But not having your team ready to play. Keeping people in the game who shouldn't be there is a huge problem. Keeping the same folks in the game without giving others a chance. Penalties. Not lining up right. These things rightfully deserve criticism.

I want to hold out hope for next season when maybe we get some kind of protection for our quarterback (hopefully POB) and somehow find a defense between now and then worth a damn. None of those players deserve Blackshirts.

Husker football is dead for at least a few more years. We all knew deep down this was a terrible hire. Wish we would of taken a chance with Frost instead of going the career failure geriatric route.

Would Pelini really have done better? This is game three for a new staff, on the road and against a decent team.

Nebraska isn't going to be great again regardless of who's coaching. The program has too many inherent disadvantages to be a consistent power in this day and age. The fan base should be learning to adjust long-term expectations by now.

Those disadvantages have always existed, they didn't suddenly just pop up...

Inaccurate.

The combination of advantages and disadvantages relative to other programs is not the same. Far from it. What Boyd Epley-level advantage do you have today to offset some of those enduring disadvantages?

And do you think you're dealing with the same academic standards in recruiting now that you were in the Big 8?

We have many problems that shouldn't take coaches years and "their players" to correct. Players don't know where to line up, tons and tons of penalties, some bad play calling at times, and just an overall poor defense for example. People want to blame this on the players and the fact that Pelini recruited them, but the truth is our recruiting classes weren't that bad and we all agree Pelini should have done better with them. I expect Riley to do better with them, too. Many of our problems won't magically fix themselves after three years, and many shouldn't take three years to fix. They should have never been problems from the very start, and this is what is discouraging. I credit the players with this comeback and the players only. Tommy looks improved, other than that nothing is any better, and wishful thinking doesn't change that. You don't have to love Bo to be critical of what we're seeing here. We're a bad team.

I've seen several "husker football is dead posts"... How can we say this when we're a few plays from 3-0 and haven't even sniffed conference play aka the games that actually matter

No this is the big time. You don't give a new staff a season long pass. They were hired to start winning day one.
You're the dumb one if you think the AD should pay millions of dollars to a new staff and not expect them to win from day one.

So the answer is to fire Riley after this year? Coaches will be lining up to accept this job after that...right?

Funny thread. So Frost is the answer? I don't care who is coaching our team, our O-line, D-ends, lack of playmakers at RB and most of all linebacker depth problems would still be huge issues. These problems aren't solved with some magic coaching wand.

for quite a while. I have no hope now, Pelini would have done better and I hated Pelini with a passion. I don't hate Riley, but he isn't going to do anything here.

Agree

Disagree. Recruiting classes in terms of having quality depth was atrocious under Pelini.

I can remember watching Husker football since the 1981 season. Seen a lot of ups and downs. I expect big things just like everyone else but this post is ridiculous! Even though we're 1-2 (sliver away from 3-0) I'm very excited about our future under this staff. We'll keep getting better every week and win the West!!! Go to bed ya whiners!
