Worked with a former SEC O-lineman one time. He told me that with the OL types, there are usually two body types.

One is the body where the guy has to eat like crazy and work out like crazy in order to keep enough weight on. The other is the type where they're constantly on diets just to stay below the 330 range.

Clearly, this guy had body type No. 1. It's similar to Todd Wade. He's still huge because he's 6-7, but he's not 340 like he used to be when he played. He'd probably closer to 270-280 these days. The guys with the other body type are the ones who typically blow up to 400+ pounds in retirement.

Kent Hull was always small for an NFL lineman, but I saw him a couple of years after he retired and you would have never thought he played line at the college or pro level. He clearly was having to work hard even to be undersized for an NFL center.

Yea, this former co-worker of mine said a few of his friends were in the 240 range not long after finishing their careers, because they had to work so hard just to keep up the size to play on the OL.

He said he had a few other friends who were pushing the 400 range though, the opposite end of that spectrum. Point being, it doesn't surprise me to see an OL that was able to lose 70 pounds in a snap after retirement.

The service academy linemen typically have to lose a ton of weight before graduation, too.

Wow, I see that he is 6'4, but he looks like a helluva lot lighter than 235. He lost the weight of a 9 year old child in a handful of months.

Alan Faneca did the same exact thing. I saw him at the LSU/MSU game 2 years ago, and you would never imagine he played in the NFL if you didn't know who he was. He probably weighs under 200 lbs.
