Wow. Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead in his apartment.

The Post had a joke about him this morning from a roast of Boomer last night. He died at 11:30 ET this morning, so obviously they didn't mean it... But I read that THEN heard about it... Ouch.

Sucks, I was a big fan. He was a fan of our Game of Change story too, really the only way it was ever going to become a movie.

Loved him in Rainman**

In all seriousness, I know he struggled with drugs and got clean for a good long while. It's a shame it came to this for him.

A real shame

Use of H almost always ends this way.

Stick a needle full of H in your arm enough times and you will die.

Must have been a potent hit to kill him before he even pulled the needle out.

Either too high of a dose, or a bad batch. Probably the latter to kill him so quickly.

A rich, media-loved junkie died. In Hollywood, there are a hundred more to take their place.

Because an insanely talented actor died. It's a shame that we will never have another brilliant performance by one of the best actors in the universe. Whether he quit acting or quit living, PSH not acting is a loss.

I don't disagree at all. I do think there is a difference in something not being a good thing and it being a shame.

I agree. Sadder still that all of that wasn't motivation to stay off the needle.

Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue say that ain't ****. Been there, done that, hovered over his dying body in spirit form before the straight adrenaline to the heart brought him back.

Too late for Philip, wouldn't you say?

Stupid to shoot Horse. Really smart to trust a pusher to cut your lethal drug to keep it from killing you.

He asked why it is a shame? It is a shame to many people because many people cared for PSH. I pointed out that more people care for that "Junkie" than that particular message board *******.

That's probably true.

That says more about them than me though.

I'll assure you of this. When I go out it won't be with a needle in my arm, throwing away a talent and a career and caring more about getting high than I do my family and the few people who would consider it a shame to lose me.

Interesting. What do you think your first comment says about you? It tells me you are sitting on some moral high ground where you judge people. How's the view from that mountain?

You have no idea the demons people battle with. Some people aren't born with with a lot of will power. That in no way makes them less of a person. You must be extremely young to think you can discount a person's life because they didn't die in a way you approve of.

It says I live a modest life, not one of a Hollywood A-lister. If I don't see morning, maybe a couple hundred people would carve out a couple of hours on Wednesday to be inconvenienced by my funeral. However, when one of these celebrity junkies kills him/herself, America in general mourns like we lost a hero. Hoffman, Ledger, Monteith...and on and on. 'Merica.

We all face problems. How we choose to cope with them goes a long way toward defining who we are. I've made terrible, awful, regrettable choices in my life - as did PSH. So I am agreeing with you - he's no less of a person, and I am not discounting his life. I am discounting the notion that it's a shame he died. He jammed a needle full of heroin into his arm to get high and left three kids without a father. That's the choice he made. I have zero respect for that.
