Wow. Tulane may be even worse than I thought they are.

They really should consider dropping athletics all together or at least going to division II

Not only is Ole Miss going to win this game

they are going to run up the score to remove the taste of beef from their mouth last week. I think Ole Miss is a fairly decent bet this weekend to cover.

Pretty sure either just before or just after Katrina they came real close to dropping down to Division III.

I remember in the late 70's and parts of the 80's when Tulane was pretty good. I remember them beating LSU 48-7 in 81, and FSU in 83. Ourselves and the Rebs had trouble with them also during this time. Pretty much since the 90's, except for the Shawn King-Tommy Bowden years in 97-98, they have been terrible. I kind of like the Wave and wish they were competitive again. I think Katrina was the final nail in their coffin.

I think you are right. Tulane will be emotional playing for Devon Walker, but I don't think they have the talent to stay on the same field as the Bears and that's bad. Rebs probably win by 30+.

They're building a new stadium

that will maybe help a little bit since it will be "their own" and not sharing the Superdome. They have hired some bad coaches though- it's obvious that winning can be done there.

If they could get Rich Rod back, and they could afford to if they wanted him, they'd easily be the pretty girl every conference would want to dance with. Greatest sports market in the USA. They have the tradition... They just need to put some money in the program for the first time in 20 years.

Sunbelt > CUSA

Or at least we know the truth, based on game results is, Troy/ULM/AState > Memphis/Tulane/UAB

Of coarse, the Rebel propoganda machine will never admit that. Especially, the Memphis faction. All that matters is State gave up 500+ yards to a Sunbelt team but Ole Miss smoked a GarbageUSA team. They will spin the Tulane win into the biggest win for OM in years and point to it as a turning the corner to the Johnny Vaught era II. Meanwhile, State hasn't beaten anyone. Also, have you heard a State booster is handing out $200 handshakes and mustangs?

Those are your Rebel talking points for 9/24/12.

The ONLY time I have ever been to a game in Oxford that did not include State, was in the early 80s. Anyway, it was Tulane vs Ole Miss. Tulane won.

Didn't they go 11 and o back in 2001 or 2003? I think Bowden might have been the coach.

Me too. It was homecoming in '88. went with my best friend to visit his brother who was in a frat. Was told I had to wear a polo shirt under a blue or red sweater and slacks with dress shoes or don't come. Most uncomfortable I've ever been at a college game. Rebs lost that day 14-9.

A while back, there was some controversy about the new stadium....folks living around there filed complaints. Don't know if it was settled or not..hope it was...the plans looked pretty good for a small but very nice stadium.
