I don't know if that's a wow. That was a real distinct possibility he'd be let go. I think it's just as likely he takes the year off as it does he takes another job. I'm not a proponent of the pro style but Richt is one of the very few coaches out there I'd give an opportunity to try.

Aranda or Richt, who do you take? Say the salary difference is $1 million.

Looks like Miami will be setting up another interview. Would love him up here but he'd never come.

UGA did what LSU almost did but realized in the 11th hour it was a mistake, not sure this move (and a new coach) puts them at the top of the SEC

The best coach available right now. Since 2000, his worse three records were 6-7, 8-5, 8-5. Too bad Rutgers don't have the resources because it makes too much sense for him to be hired:
-Great coach from a great program and a great conference who would bring INSTANT STABILITY, CREDIBILITY, WHATEVER the second he's hired (anywhere)
-Pro Offense that many here likes and even I would be cool with that if he's running the program, lol.
-Wasn't there complaints by Georgia fans that he suspend players for reasons that other programs would've laughed at?

Perfect hire for Rutgers but probably too rich for NJ.

He's been around for about 14 years at UGA. It happens when coaches are at one place for a long time. Things get stale, whether it's Miles/Mack Brown/Richt sometimes it's natural for one side or even both sides to move on even if the performance doesn't completely justify it.

Ha..he interviewed on 2000. I I know that was a while ago..but who knows?

With a new AD and new direction..why not?
He has a 145 Wins 51 losses and gets fired. Omg. He would be a legend in this area with that record.

I am sure some on the board would say we don't need this retread. Honestly believe he is out of our league tho I get furious at our administration for small minded thinking like that. On second thought go get him!!!

There's been pressure to fire him for years. Yet another example of how different the athletic culture is at big time schools. It might as well be a different planet. If Richt had the kind of record at RU that he had at Georgia, he'd be coach for life. A sad and telling fact is that RU does not have the kind of culture that would nurture, create, or sustain the level of success that got Richt fired.

Moronic! Like Maryland firing the Fridge or Pitt firing Wannstadt. Schools have yet to recover and floundering.

Agree Tico. It sounds like a pipe dream but you never know. Richt MAY just be interested in a change of scenery from the SEC and the opportunity to coach in another P5 conference and under the spot light of the largest media market in the country. Fingers are crossed.

The situation in the SEC is ridiculous. The expectations as far as success is concerned is unimaginable. Yes the money's great but you can get it elsewhere without all the unreasonable demands. First speculation about Les Miles leaving LSU and now Richt out.
