His highlights on X are crazy, Absolutely is torching DBs and some crazy catches, He will be a problem for defenses, This is the kind of burner Iowa just never gets
And Indiana is undefeated and on its way to a national title with EIGHT four- or five-star players while most other CFP teams had between 40 and 55. And at least some of Iowa's portal pickups have had offers from little schools like Alabama, Kentucky, and Michigan State, to name just a few. It doesn't matter where kids come from. It matters what skills they bring. And, BTW, I hear Iowa had a QB last season from some FCS school . . .So….So far we’ve “splashed” by bringing in players from:
Rio Grande Valley
Holy Cross
Villanova
S. Dakota
Furman
Elon
N. Illinois
James Madison
Robert Morris
N. Dakota St
Interesting.
Let's see if you're right, but last time I checked football is played the same way at all levels. If you're talented, you're talented. How many times do we have to point out that Indiana's unprecedented success was built with players and a head coach from James Madison! The jump in competition is going to be too much for the overwhelming majority of these guys.
Just don’t know why we’re ONLY grabbing players from smaller schools. What do you think the reason is? Because it’s certainly interesting if nothing else![]()
No doubt. I think we should go back to massively over paying for guys from Michigan. I guess we will always have that natty to celebrate! So….So far we’ve “splashed” by bringing in players from:

Exactly. James and Diaz will burn teams for stacking the box by taking the top off the defense. You saw what the burners from Vandy did. Iowa now has a stable of big, sure-handed receivers like Vander Zee and Hudson and has added speed and quickness with Diaz and James. Mix in three or four big, powerful TEs, a bevy of multistyled RBs and, well, Hecklinski and Lester are gonna have weapons like Iowa has seldom had. The Hawkeye offense should be putting up Indiana-type numbers next year which, of course, takes a lot of pressure off the defense and allows them to play even more aggressively. His highlights on X are crazy, Absolutely is torching DBs and some crazy catches, He will be a problem for defenses, This is the kind of burner Iowa just never gets
wish you were in the clearance section so we could get rid of your negative ****.clearance section of the portal![]()
Not all go to the NFL but Alabama currently has the most players in the NFL.After reading your post, this may blow your mind.
Not every kid that goes to Alabama make it to the NFL. Many, many do not each year.
And believe it or not, there are players who play their entire careers at the FCS level, who do make it to the NFL.
That’s not even considering players who make an FCS All American team in their first two scholarship seasons and spend another 2-3 years at a great developmental team like Iowa.
You should save this list of players and remember it over the next 2-3 years. You might be surprised by the splash they make indeed.
Lester has not gotten rid of Bud so maybe he likes him on his O staff. Maybe he knows a little more than some think.BUD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fitz is definitely public enemy #1nice. here on forth will always be a delight to kick most hated rival purdue…i mean msu in the nuts
how is that being negative?wish you were in the clearance section so we could get rid of your negative ****.
Chose Iowa over Michigan State.
Lester should hopefully have a few nice pieces to work with next season.

Hawkeyes add WR transfer Evan James
Furman transfer Evan James, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound wide receiver who earned FCS freshman All-American honors, has made his decision.www.on3.com
Especially if said transfers did really well in previous passing time and generating enough videotape to show their skillsI like getting these transfers that still have 2-3 years of eligibility left!
"The gift from heaven" sealed the deal.
The 2 time AA KICK RETURNER was a what star. So many kids that go under recruitedAnd Indiana is undefeated and on its way to a national title with EIGHT four- or five-star players while most other CFP teams had between 40 and 55. I think that today this is Iowa’s only viable strategy for significant upgrades to the wide receiver corps. I still have significant concerns over who is implementing that strategy and who will be coaching them and throwing to them.Have you seen some of the offer lists for a few of these kids?
I think the strategy is a good one. You have kids with multiple years of eligibility who have the chance to compete right away and develop into really good players. Indiana brought in 13 transfers from James Madison when Cignetti was hired, and a bunch of other P4 teams have found really good players from that level of football you’re turning your nose at.
Let it play out.
Iowa can and should play moneyball. We aren't a perennial top 20 HS recruiting team so why would it change for the portal? The better part about this is we are taking under recruited and lower level school kids who are actually producing all ready with multiple years of eligibility and some have had good offers since. Now we can build off that with more development.So….So far we’ve “splashed” by bringing in players from:
Rio Grande Valley
Holy Cross

Would you rather have those who were not good enough at their respective high level schools? So….So far we’ve “splashed” by bringing in players from:

We all hope Iowa's portal approach of completely avoiding P4 players in favor of productive smaller school/division players pays off big time.Iowa can and should play moneyball. Also who cares what fookin school they go to? We would have been so much better off as a program since Nate Stanley if we had NDSU and SDSU's quarterbacks.
I don't believe that Lester has any say on that particular issue.Lester has not gotten rid of Bud so maybe he likes him on his O staff. Maybe he knows a little more than some think.
Interesting note on Bradshaw is that he grew up rooting for Hawkeyes and wanted to be a Hawkeye.Terry Bradshaw was bum f somewhere too. Brett Favre also bum f school.
The average age of this Indiana team is 23 years old. They showed a graphic during the Oregon game where it said that and that the Chicago Bears average age is 25. Those extra years in the weight room make a big difference it appears. While this is true, I’d be willing to bet my left one that the number goes way down amongst their players that don’t actually play in games(which is what a great deal of their portal entries are)Not all go to the NFL but Alabama currently has the most players in the NFL.
Iowa has done above average at retaining our players that we want to stay, to date.We all hope Iowa's portal approach of completely avoiding P4 players in favor of productive smaller school/division players pays off big time.
The flaw in your logic, however, is the assumption that all of these guys will stay at Iowa and blossom throughout their full remaining years of eligibility. Unfortunately, history--recent though it may be--teaches us that many of them will transfer again, either because things didn't pan out at Iowa, or because things panned out too well at Iowa and someone with deeper pockets and/or a more reliable path to the playoffs comes callin'.
This is why some guardrails need to be put in place on this absurd 100% player-centric wild west transfer environment. It doesn't necessarily need to go back to the days where once you signed an LOI you're stuck. But this current trajectory is utterly and completely unsustainable. There has to be a middle ground where both sides have some protections.
Can’t lie, the offer lists on some of these guys are very nice indeed!Have you seen some of the offer lists for a few of these kids?

I think the portal strategy is a reflection of the Head Coach. Conservative.how is that being negative?
the hawks are being thrifty shoppers, to me that's a smart move.
I like all of the pickups so far. now they still have to produce though![]()
If they create separation it can really help an unproven QB. I actually did wonder how the smaller jitterbugs might impact the running game. Hopefully the o-line and Phillips make up for any blocking shortcomings. Can he block?
It does suck to think in a few years with a coaching change incoming the likelihood of a mass exodus is fairly high.Iowa has done above average at retaining our players that we want to stay, to date.
That could obviously change at any time, but it shouldn’t be a reason to stray from this portal approach until/if it becomes a factor.
Vander Zee and HOWARD.....Kansas City kid. Played at Park Hill. Iowa had another kid from KC (played at Raytown high) named Desmond Hutson. He portalled out to UNI a couple of years ago.....Exactly. James and Diaz will burn teams for stacking the box by taking the top off the defense. You saw what the burners from Vandy did. Iowa now has a stable of big, sure-handed receivers like Vander Zee and Hudson and has added speed and quickness with Diaz and James. Punter? Who needs a punter? Whoever he is, he's gonna be one of the loneliest guys in football.
One big difference is Kirk won’t keep it a total secret when the time comes. The kids will know. Transition may be smoother than you think. Fran got fired. Bluder retired. It does suck to think in a few years with a coaching change incoming the likelihood of a mass exodus is fairly high.
We would have sucked back in those days and he rooted for Iowa?Interesting note on Bradshaw is that he grew up rooting for Hawkeyes and wanted to be a Hawkeye.
