What happens to that phrase? You think Jim will still use it? Should he?

I think if Jim takes over the play by play and wants to use it, I'm behind that 100%.

If Jim is the color guy and say Wyatt takes over, should he use it?

Or should it just be retired forever? I'd be cool with that too.

our Joe Dean using "string music" and other things from his dad. Use it judiciously and with respect.

Yep. Only for big games or dramatic wins.

John Ward had a number of good sayings at UT that Kessling doesn't use.

like "in the immortal words of Jack Cristil, you can wrap this one in maroon and white." Otherwise, it wouldn't be the same for me, or for young kids in years to come, they wouldn't know the true meaning of it.

With Jack's blessing of course - it's too much a part of MSU tradition to lose it. Even though it's not Jack's voice - it's the phrase I want to hear at the end of a broadcast.

What does Jim do for baseball since I rarely listen to baseball games?

Whoever takes Jack's place just needs to use the phrase, people will know where it came from. Maybe an occasional "in the words of Jack Cristil..." but not every time.</p>

did with Bob Sheppard and Derek Jeter. They still use a tape of Sheppard to introduce Jeter when he bats; we could have a tape of Jack's wrap it blast over the jumbotron after every win. In radio broadcasts, they could have Jim say whatever he does after we win and have them play a tape of Jack. Then cut back to Jim's live broadcast.

We have options in the way we keep it alive.
