Nice addition. Hope he can break through and AA this year.
2x R12, basically traded for Peterson’s 2x R12 in a sense lol
Liking Pinto’s chances to AA this year-reuniting w Labs and Bulsak and Yara got on podium after transferring here.

Now just gotta wonder if Crackers predicted Pinto’s transfer and just got the cornfields mixed up 🤭.

There's no way the pickle pooper confused Pinto with a Suriano type transfer or the other accolades his fading proclamations claimed.

Glad to get some fireworks back in the lineup. That's one thing I'll have missed from Soldan and (freshmen/sophmore Turley).

lol NJ had more 2 more all Americans then PA and every other state and y’all seem to be recruiting NJ less then ever
They don't want to come here. They hear from parents, friends and especially coaches to go elsewhere. They train at SKWC for years make great relationships with the coaches, then tell them to stick it up their ***. That's New Jersey's wrestling scene for you. The people of the State sh*t more on the State then outsiders do. People who live in New Jersey have no pride in the state they live in and would rather root for someone else, while making fun of where they live.

I don’t think this is at all true. I think there’s a lot of pride in the state. But when weighing options. History of AAs, coaching staffs, NIL etc. Rutgers is not too choice for many

Cmon, this was a bad year for PA, but they are still the best state by far! And as Koleszar said the top NJ recruits are not really considering RU They need to get PA kids and they recently have done a good job getting CA kids(although they have not really worked out) Barbosa hopefully changes that

You are mistaken, we have never gotten a Delbarton kid or a top Blair kid to come here A lot of the other private school kids “parents” look down on RU They do not want to tell their other rich friends their son is going to Rutgers

Just curious where do you guys rank academically in the big ten ? A large amount of those delbarton /blair kids end up at Ivys

Yeah I mean if a kid is choosing an ivy over a big ten school, I can’t really knock them. I wouldn’t frame it as their parents don’t like Rutgers. Their kid has a chance to get an Ivy League degrees. If they were choosing Maryland or Perdue or Indiana i would think differently

It's not hard to get into Cornell if you're good at wrestling. Many of these kids will come out with AG degrees with no intentions of being farmers or ranchers. The other Ivy's have bitched for years about Cornell gaming the system.

I believe crackers bringing up someone shitting a LB of pickles was what made me mention Pinto was rumored to Rutgers back in Feb

Most of it happens in the private circles. The biggest recent case that gets mentioned here often was Robbie Howard who basically laughed at Rutgers being an option

Robbie Howard went to Penn states. If Cael calls you and you can wrestle for the best team in the country and someone asks you if you are considering Rutgers i could see how that might illicit a chuckle.

IMO, Goodale doesn’t work hard enough at the youth level. While obviously staying within the parameters of recruiting, he needs to make deeper in-roads at the elite clubs, participate in camps, more visits to schools, etc. I do see him show up to elite events but I think other coaches are simply out-recruiting him.

They stack up very well academically. The issue is lot of snobbery in the more wealthier towns. But academically they’re very competitive. I usually go by US news, they do good job in their rankings. I see in b10 not including the new programs, they’re ranked 41, only behind Michigan 21, Illinois 33, and Wisconsin 39, and are tied with OSU.

They rank higher than the more trendy Lehigh 46, and VT 51. NCST is 58

I do not count Mason and do not count Casale. Casale was going to Lehigh before he got kicked out of Delbarton and then Lehigh pulled his offer.
Melde(I did forget him, since he went to Depaul Catholic Sr year). Not sure if he was going to RU when he was at Delbarton before he was asked to leave.
And do not blame parents for sending their wrestlers to Ivy league schools. Cornell being the exception(since they have the AG loophole).
But RU loses many other to Lehigh, Va Tech etc. One of the reasons as I stated, RU is looked down on by NJ sports parents. There is a reason Schiano had to build his team up with Florida and other out of state players. Fence the Garden did not work for Football or Wrestling. Goodale has said recently, that he would love to get the top NJ kids, but they are not coming so we need to recruit other states harder.
In a lot of other States, kids grow up dreaming of going to their "state" school, this is not the case in NJ.

I will also add that a lot of the top level NJ high school wrestlers (often from the private schools) choose to attend Army, Navy, Stanford, or Northwestern as well.

In my experience, the farther away that you get from NJ the higher the opinion people have of Rutgers.

This is 100% accurate and I’m a big believer that part of the problem is the football program. When you think of school athletics, you think of football. For a long while, Rutgers was an embarrassment athletically. In the mid 2000s when football was legit, everyone loved Rutgers. Now that they’re mediocre, they’re a punchline.

Leaving the Big East where ESPN had a TV deal pissed off the network and they took shots at Rutgers all the time. The brand hasn’t really recovered. In state, it’s looked at as a pity type safety school despite being a pretty solid academic school with at worst average athletics.

The big east fell apart and we ended up in the AAC. It wasn't our fault the league imploded.

Agreed, but the timing of everything was just unfortunate. The football team fell off and ESPN had no problem turning us into a laughing stock since our games were now on a different network.

We also got a raw deal with the big 10 tv contract and have been in a hole ever since.
