From that Tupelo guy's blog......

Coach Sylvester Croom was asked almost exclusively about Tyson Lee and the quarterback position in general. Some nuggets:</p>

• "<span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">I think I probably do things a little different as far as quarterbacks. I evaluate those guys like I evaluate everybody else. You've got two guys in competition for a spot, and the guy that performs better in practice, that's who I'm going to give the chance to play."</span></p>

<span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">(</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Saddawg's comment.... Hey Croom, I'd rather you do things like other people do, it seems to work better than your way)
</span></p>

• On LSU game: "I thought we ran better, I thought we caught better, I thought we blocked better. We did execute better at the quarterback position. But I looked at it as more of an overall improvement in our offensive performance. We had far fewer missed assignments in this ballgame than we've had all year."</p>

<span style="font-weight: bold;">(Saddawg's comment..... Only took 5 games, huh?)</span>
</p>

• On the offensive line: "(Derek) Sherrod had his best game - that's something that you take for granted, but your left tackle missed three weeks of training camp and loses about 10-15 pounds. It's hurt our running game, it's hurt our passing game. Now our starting five guys are starting to come together a little bit, got some continuity there with all of them playing and working together."</p>

• <span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">On the modern approach to breaking in QBs: "Now you're just having to play guys so much faster. And you're doing it without a lot of information for it to be based upon. You're having to make decisions based on potential."</span></p><span style="font-weight: bold;">(Saddawg's comment.......... er,ruh, what?)</span>

He acts like a QB should be in the system for 2 or 3 years before they even throw a pass. He is a retard.

patdog's comment: That's usually about how long it takes a Crxxm team (and especially a Crxxm offense) to not look like a total train wreck. Which would be fine if we had 4 preseason games like the NFL does.

What Croom is saying here is...Because our offense sucks hairy monkey nuvts...We have to take chances on QB's that were not heavily recurited and to this point they have not performed up to SEC standards. As an OM fan I felt your pain for the last 4 years.

you're right, pretty much since the Archie days. Manning, Patridge, Luke, Nelson, Miller....all those guys were serviceable. I agree with Reb92, the past 4 years have been bad for them.

I don't understand State's bout with QB futility. The simplest odds say you will have a serviceable QB sooner or later. Big mystery.

Now our starting five guys are starting to come together a little bit,
If the five have come together, is only because the other 4 are walking backwards to the fifth (Saulsbury). Saulsbury (sp?) got beat nearly every play vs LSU and in other games. No exaggeration......he is f'n terrible. Watch him next game, defenders run around him untouched alot.

Do we seriously not have anyone better?

whether it was individual players' faults, or a slack managerial job by Sherrill, or both, we will never know.

It is a lethal combination of poor recruiting, poor coaching, and poor talent. Plus, we have fans that want to pull the QB after one bad pass.

My thery is that if Archie went to MSU, he would be living in a trailer down by the river.
