Y'all do realize Bulldog Initiative and Bulldog Excellence Fund are just two sides of the same NIL coin, don't you. And they're both controlled by Selmon. If money needs to go to one fund or the other, or be moved from one fund to the other, there are ways of getting that done, easiest being just tell the #8M donor to make the checks out to the Initiative until the legal settlement is finalized. If we're saving our NIL donations for next year, that would be the most Mississippi State thing ever. While everyone else is foolishly buying good players and building competitive teams, we're hoarding our money for a year when we get a favorable schedule. Newsflash, we're in the SEC. ALL schedules are difficult. And we're just digging our hole even deeper with another year like last year, making it even harder for us to dig ourselves out of it.
Yes, I relize who and what BI is compared to the State Excellence. BI is a private entity that can buy players now. SE is a department of the AD and can't buy players right now, technically.

I believe announcing that money for the SE and fans already being directed away from BI to SE means State had no intentions to continue to fund BI for this recruiting cycle.

Maybe....BI already had plenty of funds for this recruiting cycle????. Which I doubt seriously.

I agree. It isn't smart to save for tomorrow when players are needed today. However I'm just trying to find some sense in directing fans away from BI now and to SE.

I get it you're saying they can move money. But I don't think State is that aggressive or ballsy.

Agree with all of this. Especially the last sentence. The way we've handled NIL and portal from the beginning has been the most colossal and costly 17-up in the history of Mississippi State sports. We literally could not have screwed everything up any worse if we had tried.

In other words, our NIL is not in “great shape” because our counterparts are spending $15-25M THIS year

Can we all at least finally admit that?

This is the case. No matter how much we raise, others will have more and offer more than us or at least match and they still get the kid. Heck, sometimes they can pay a little less and still get the kid. This is a world we just don't fit in unfortunately. I believe until we are able to hire an existing head coach that can bring excitement and interest to our program (both from players and media), then I don't believe we make it out of the bottom of the SEC.

I hate what college football has become. It is 100% a worse product now. ...but but but......at least the players are getting paid! Newsflash, they already were.

Not really. Yes, the top teams in the conference will always be ahead of us, that's a given.

The “top teams in the conference”:

Texas
Georgia
Alabama
LSU
Tennessee
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Florida
Arkansas
South Carolina
Ole Miss
Missouri
Auburn

But we're competitive with the rest in the SEC.

The “rest of the SEC”:

Vanderbilt
Kentucky

I had a chance to listen to Bart and Charlie's 12/15/24 show. At the 42:30 mark, Charlie briefly talks about SEF and NIL funds.

What I heard is NIL funds are there for this recruiting cycle. I'm NOT 100% sure if those funds are from SEF. However sounds like you may be right, funds can be moved now from SEF to NIL.

We’ve announced $12,000,000 in NIL contributions in the last couple of months. What do we have to show for it? Lost at least 3 of our best players & signed 6 low 3* portal recruits.

Correct.

and as far as moving, it has more to do with the donater’s wishes, than rev share.
