Again give up a layup in the final seconds of a half or OT because we refuse to stop the ball after it gets across the timeline and we allow the ballhandler to drive all the way to the rim.

The famous and almost-annual second-half-of-the-season fade by a Huggins-coached team has started. And we all know that once it starts, Huggins has never been able to fix it.

I can't believe how bad our Center's are. We just can't stop anyone in the paint. I have been a fan since 1955 and graduated in 71 with a MS in 74. I will always root for WVU but our two and three star athletes just can't compete against these other Big XII teams. I will watch the Kansas game and cheer for the Eer's knowing that our chances to winare slim. I can say that I know how a Cub or Red Sox fan felt for years because the Mountaineer's continue to break my heart.

I've seen this act with Huggins teams too many times in too many years.

Here is we finished the last half dozen years:

2015-16: 7-5 in last 12 games
2014-15: 7-7 last 14
2013-14: 3-7 last 10
2012-13: 1-8 last 9
2011-12: 4-9 last 13
2010-11: 6-6 last 12

It seems the annual Huggins Fade, which always includes anemic half-court offense and no on-ball and help defense and dates back to his days at Cincinnati, is starting a little early this year. History tells us that while there might be a big upset or two the rest of the way what we've seen in the Oklahoma and Kansas State games is how we'll play for the majority of the games. Again this year, there is no go-to guy on offense, we can't pass, we force too many bad shots, we commit a multitude of stupid fouls, multiple players play like they have lost their confidence and we can't stop opponents from driving to the rim. We've seen this all before. Can somebody give me a good reason why we should expect this trend to reverse course?
