Magic number to earn a share of title is 1. It's now 2 to win out right.

WVU gets 1 seed with tie breaker if shared.

WVU 15-6
Oklahoma State 13-8
Kansas State 12-9
Texas 12-9

If Texas sweeps WVU, they have chance for title. So next weekend is going to be huge.

Being a student during the Hawley field days, I would have laughed in your face if you told me WVU would win a baseball conference title before football or men’s basketball when the Big XII move was announced.

Didn't the women's soccer team win the first Big 12 title in 2012 regular season? Won 5 straight regular season titles from 2012 - 2016.

The Mountaineers women's soccer is undefeated all-time in the Big 12 Championship Finals, with five appearances and five victories since joining the conference in 2012.

Probably, but of the 3 sports I mentioned, baseball seemed like the most uphill climb. When I was there the vibe from the program was very high school and the Big XII with its warm weather schools was a huge upgrade in competition from the Big East (where we still sucked). Football was coming off the 3 BCS bowls, and Bball with the Final Four and alot of tournament appearances.

That's why I keep saying.....the hiring of Randy Mazey is the GREATEST HIRE that WVU has made in my lifetime....in any sport.

Don Nehlen turned around a wretched football team. He got WVU into the national lime light in marketing as well as national TV games.

Very different sports/situations. Nehlen brought WVU up in a time when the game wasn’t bastardized yet by ESPN, he had the support of a whole state and administration to get the program up and running without the media constantly FUDding about conferences not named SEC. Mazey brought WVU up in a sport they simply had no business competing in due to geography and history and has them about to win a legitimate power conference and a great chance to go to Omaha… before Mazey we had only qualified for the tournament twice in 30 years, we were basically Marshall basketball, now we have the inside track to play in Omaha.

I know Masey has good team right now. Great offensive bats. Starting pitching good but could be better. Bullpen excellent. Fielding is average with outfield not nearly as good as last year. Claims of inside track to Ohama are a little premature. Should take it one game at a time. Has WVU played or beaten any top 10 teams?

You can call him a great coach and best baseball coaching hire but the best hire ever in all sports, don't think so.

We don’t necessarily have to play a top 10 team to get to Omaha. It will be interesting to see where we are seeded, there is only some half baked website that seems to do a baseball bracketology and it has us as a 13 seed, with 4 other Big XII teams in the field.

WVU also favored to be a regional host. This will be key to getting a shot at Omaha.
