(Jan. 4, 2025) – </strong>The No. 22 West Virginia University wrestling team earned a resounding victory against the Princeton Tigers, 27-12, at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton, New Jersey, on Saturday.</p><p></p><p>West Virginia (7-1, 1-1 Big 12) earned the win with strong performances across the board in the team’s first action since Dec. 21.</p><p></p><p>Redshirt freshman Sasha Gavronsky got the night started for the Mountaineers, defeating Princeton’s Cody Tavoso by decision, 5-1.</p><p></p><p>No. 3 fifth-year Peyton Hall continued his impressive season, picking up his 18th win of the year. Hall defeated Princeton’s Zander Silva by technical fall, 18-0.</p><p></p><p>Following up Hall, No. 28 redshirt sophomore Brody Conley (174) and No. 17 redshirt senior Dennis Robin (184) earned wins to put the Mountaineers up, 15-0.</p><p></p><p>Princeton earned three wins in the next four matches to get on the board.</p><p></p><p>Fifth-year Sam Hillegas battled with No. 7 Ty Whalen to end the night. Hillegas jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but Whalen began to chip away at the deficit.
