True, and the Alabama player was sort of the ring leader. But ... we'll probably accept, or get, the fall and Alabama will get away scott free. The fact that we're already on probation won't help one bit ... could be pretty serious.

We weren't on probation when this allegedly occurred -- meaning there is no "repeat offenders" clause on the table.

Absolute worst case = we have to vacate the Music City Bowl and the 2012 season. IF that happens, it means Bama will likely lose the national title as well... meaning it's highly unlikely we get anything as long as we simply keep ourselves tied with them and follow their lead...

"Blank stare" all you want, but I had to Google to see who he is. I have to admit that I don't keep up with professional athletes, even if they were All-Americans at Alabama. And I'll bet that very few people in the populace knows who he is either. Only those obsessed with CFB ....

This is soooo easy. All we have to do is not 17 it up. There is realistically no way MSU could know anything about this. Formally ask Bumphis to talk to the NCAA about the incident (informally make sure the he will deny or not talk to them at all). That's it. What semi-credible source is going to talk to the NCAA? The NCAA could always punish us without any evidence, but I don't think even they could handle the rank hypocrisy of punishing MSU for this instance and letting Alabama off the hook.

and simply just not say a 17 thing unless asked. If asked just plead dumb...truth sets you free.

Perhaps an outlandish suggestion ... but would it help if we returned to athletic dorms and locked the doors around 9 p.m? In other words, put them on a short leash.

Millions who don't know who Mark Barron is? I'd say it's more like 200,000,000 ++ who have never heard of him. Just a guess.

Yep, Outlandish

Just not going to happen.

No school can really control this type of situation.

What exactly are you trying to say here? If you're trying to call him a hypocrite, then his original tweet would need to be directed at juniors being offered plane tickets, not recruits being offered money. If you're trying to say this is proof we paid him as a recruit... no, that can't be it. No one could be that 17ing stupid. Could they?

NCAA doesn't use "forfeits" any more. The wins are "vacated," meaning the penalized team loses the win but the competitor does not pick up a win.

I agree with this 100%. "We are complying, but have no control over players who have graduated." I award you 2 juice points.

Which comes into play here. MSU vs Bama 2012 would be forfeited by both teams if this came to worst.

So we forfeit some wins? Big deal. Bama (championships) and tenn (current player) are only teams with something to lose.

How

exactly are they going to prove this, other than someone saying this happened? If they go to the players and ask, the players can tell them to get 17ed. The school can't supply any evidence. The agent sure as hell isn't going to. I'm in no way worried about this.

If we somehow get penalized for this, then something needs to be done with our leadership.
