If Petrino wouldnt have called her out in the press conference, she would still have her job. She didn't work for the university, she worked for a radio station.
Dumbass fans saw the press conference, found out what happened, and Monday morning called the radio station en masse to complain/boycott advertisers.
Yes, she probably deserved to be fired - that is just dumb, but, she would have gotten away with a slap on the wrist if he wouldn't have said anything.

I get why she was fired, but for petesake what a minor offense over which to be fired. Petrino should be embarrassed over her firing.
to fire her *** or he just doesn't have big enough balls to buck the UA sports establishment. Very similar to the Gene Syndrome found near S'Vegas. Petrino needs his diaper changed.

It's just wrong for someone to be fired over something like that, especially in this economy. Who knows when or where she'll find her next job, but this could really hurt her financially. That's plain stupid.
Should she have worn the hat? No. Is it something to be fire over? No. I am telling you guys. They are not sane or logical over here when it comes to the "Razorbacks". It is especially bad this year too. They are REALLY, REALLY fired up this preseason. It is showing with these events. This AM on the LR sports talk. They are defending the firing and supporting Petrino for his comments. It is probably a 9 to 1 ratio of the general public in support of what took place.
I mean, this isn't the same thing as being a beat reporter for the Clarion-Ledger...it's closer to one of the guys who does stories for Genespage or Bulldawg Junction. Not to defend her firing, but she should have known wearing a UF hat to ARK while representing the freeking HOG SPORTS RADIO outlet is a massively stupid idea.
It's one thing to think she should be fired. But the fans that actually contacted the station to have her fired need to get a grip on reality.
When I hire people I'm looking for smart people who can work independently. I don't have time to babysit and I need them to make good choices that help our business. If you are so colossally stupid as to wear a Florida hat into the Arkansas pre-season press conference then you are too stupid to be effective to me. When my customers start calling me complaining and threatening my revenue stream I can easily fire someone.
You can argue semantics all day long but she did something idiotic and her boss would have lost money because of it. He chose the path that kept his revenue in tact, it was the right thing to do.
