I see no mention of Devon Desper, whom I understand DOMINATED Gross in the playoff game this year. It really is funny. The list seems pretty legit, just not realistically listed.

on the top 10 twice.

But yea you can't help but laugh at some of the stuff Yancy comes up with. I don't subscribe to any of those websites, they're just going to tell you whatever they think will get the subscriptions

One of those was supposed to be Devin Bell (the kicker)... But oh well, the point remains, I guess.

I also heard AJ got bumped to a 4*. Not sure ifthat'strue or not. He's a good player, but a tweener that isn't real fast. Not worthy of a 4* imo.<div>I would expect to see almost all those kids in Yancy's "top 14" to get a rating boost (minus the ones committed to us).</div><div>
</div><div>James Northern better than Xavier Grindle...right. Keep telling yourself that.</div><div>
</div><div>This should be further proof that the rankings for our state's recruits are 17ed. Yancy and Gene twist this rankings up so much by the end of the year, you have no clue how good a kid really is. </div><div>Scout.com needs to flush all the MS recruiting experts and start from scratch.</div>

Everyone gets all geeked up about getting Dandy Dozen players but the end of year 1st and 2nd team All-State rosters they put togehter are much better. We're pretty well represented with 1st and 2nd team commits but there are some good players from Mississippi still out there uncommited.
Frankly I'd take the guys at the Clarion Ledger's, with Rod Walker leading the bunch, evaluation over Yancy or Gene's any day. But it's all a crapshoot. I saw a re-run of that documentary called the 'Brady Six' the other morning. Reminded me that 6 other QB's were taken in the draft before Tom Brady. Anyone know where Giovanni Carmozzi is these days?

That's the trick with him. He does have some good information, and lately he's really killed Rosebowl on that front when it comes to letting you know where players are going. We'll see if that carries over with this new staff in place.

You just have to ignore him when he starts giving out his evaluations, and you have to cut through the occasional spin. That's the part where he's fancying up the product to those that want it all pretty, but he has had the good dirt most of the time lately.

He does get good info, at least from the last staff but it's because he had extremely good relations with them. McCready has even alluded that he may as well have been on staff at times. I'm not sure how Freeze will deal with the situation. It's pretty easy to see what Yancy is doing. If he wants to spin something real hard he'll make the story non-premium. That's a sure fire indicator it's completely made up!

Paul Jones is by far the best at getting reliable info, and the other writers at 247 seem to be more realistic as well. All the Scout writers must be given more creative license when it comes to writing post visit interviews and such. Some of the headlines are just over the top. When Redmond went to UGA this past weekend the article was titled something like "Redmond says UGA is just something special". Of course not special enough to commit to UGA. And as we've seen this week and in the past Scout will let their subscribers and board owners manipulate stars at will.

I'm sure if AJ Jefferson commits to us then Yancy will try to have him knocked back down to a 3 star. Would be a huge uproar over at Gene's.

Good points.

On our current staff, my guess is they will use the recruiting sites as a tool. Orgeron read them to get dirt on what prospects were saying, and not only that, he did his best to manipulate them so that he could have another tool to sell when he was out on the trail.

Given that Freeze takes pretty much all of his recruiting cues from his experience with Orgeron, I'm willing to bet he treats them in similar fashion.

He will likely feed them the information he wants to leak to recruits. Not sure what that'll mean for Yancy, but we'll see soon enough.

No coincidence that that list magically shows that Ole Miss is getting the best of the best in-State. Why wouldn't all the un-commited recruits not want to join them in Oxford? Plus as a 'reporter' Yancy can contact with recruits, High School Coaches, and folks who like to drive kids around in vans. I know his interference has costs y'all some recruits in the past but I think it has help get some recruits too. If I remember correctly Fletcher Cox intimated he would beat Yancy's *** or something if he didn't STFU about him.

If it makes any difference AJ Jefferson was bumped up a star on 247 because of his play at the MS/ALA All Star game as well.
