I also would not be terribly surprised to lose Boyd and Fletcher Cox.

I think we can keep Montrell Conner. He knows he'll get the ball 25 times a game.

2 years or losing every game because of our offense, I choose the former. We won't win with our current scheme. ****, Matt Flynn played for one year at LSU and he is the 2nd string quarterback in Green Bay.

As you can tell, I am completely disgusted with our team.

...the Josh Boyd rumor doesn't have legs either. Hope he's right and not just trying to put his fingers in the dike.

But, even at that, one area where Croom HAS made improvement and must be given credit is the effort in recruiting. He is doing a better than average job now. Finally. Where before we could count on him losing a blue chip late, he's learned how to combat that.

He can't overcome his own offense, though. And opponents are using it to their advantage.

Seems to me that these recruiting rumors, as they continue to abound, will force Byrne to have the "Woody conversation" with Croom soon. I would not be surprised if Woody's health issues (which I hope are not life threatening) become the basis for some sort of announcement before the season is over.

if these rumors are true, his "improvement" will be gone because of his offense.

It basically all comes down to wins and losses. If we won the same way we did last year, people would not be saying anything. Because recruits could look at us and say from going to a decent/good team to a great team, they need me to get over that hump on offense or defense. But since we are losing, recruits are questioning their commitment.

And I will be the first to say, I am 2 good performances away from liking Croom aGAIN. I am fickle.

I think it's much easier to hold onto the defensive recruits with the way we're playing there. A new OC right after the season would probably help - WCO guy or not - just a change.

Just like if we would have won 5-3 over Auburn, there wouldn't be near as much complaining going on. Yeah, people would still be upset that our offense struggled, but recruits would be excited that we just beat the #9 team in the country (and no I don't think they are the #9 team), instead of focusing on how bad our offense was.

I'm with you. I also think we will play a very close game with Lsu with the possibility of stealing one. My gut is telling me that. Hopefully, it's more accurate than Croom's gut. And yes, I'm insane.

is that recruits are starting to jump ship after only 3 games. Its only going to get worse.

And Goddamn muddawgs- we cant block Auburn's front at all, in Starkville..but we are going to block LSU's, which is even better, in Baton Rouge? Really? We cant win in Ruston, but your gut thinks we can win in Baton Rouge? Wowwwwww

After his "I'm a man of my word, etc." shot at Garrett, I don't expect Russell to leave. Not that I'd blame him, but he's about the last decent player I could see taking off.

russell knows he can walk on to campus and be loved by every fan in the building., he will be our favoriate QB ever... If he goes anywhere else, they are going to want to see the 4 star or the 5 star play. his talent level will only be truly appreciated at State, plus its an hour from home, plus some of his teammates are going to join him, plus he is the bell cow and I don't think he wants to let croom down.

may ... MAY ... be as stubborn and bullheaded as Croom? Maybe Russell has set his mind to it and he's coming, damn it, and there ain't NOTHING gonna change his mind.

Jus sayin

OK, here's a question about our situation and recruiting- do guys like Patterson re-commit if we get rid of Woody?

I'd like to see some thoughts on this.

we have nothing to sell right now. Just give a recruit some hope, I think they would jump back on board.

• Wide receiver Patrick Patterson of Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County is done with Mississippi State following his de-commitment last weekend, and this now looks to be a two-team race between Ole Miss and Alabama. Auburn was in the mix as well, but Patterson was unimpressed with the Tigers in the 3-2 victory over Mississippi State. The Bulldogs' performance led to his de-commitment. Four-star defensive tackle Josh Boyd of Philadelphia (Miss.) High and three-star quarterback Tyler Russell of Meridian (Miss.) High are other Mississippi State commitments rumored to be looking elsewhere.

Rosebowl is normally pretty accurate with his recruiting information and he is saying that Russell is the last recruit who will jump ship and Boyd and Cox are solid committs. We should be able to hold on to most of our defensive committs but we will have trouble hanging on to some of the offensive guys.

What makes ya think we can hold on to defense recruits since they wont have any help on offense to put points on the board and keep the D off the field

From all the interviews with our defensive recruits they say they like our defensive scheme and can't wait to get here. I know it is only September and and a lot can happen between now and February, but as of right now they all seem to be pretty solid.</p>

I'll go sink with Coach. We've only played 3 games. I predict that our defense will look totally lost against the bone and our offense will show the same old routes. We were hot before we started playing games, now these recruits are seeing what they can come to and they don't like it.

Also, the Pat Patterson move made the cover of Yahoo.

keep on plugin' Croom!

but I think you get a few back. Maybe even some you didn't think you could get if it's sold to them properly. Such as we had to make a change, new exciting offense, need you to be a very important part.

I think we all know that you can't believe a damn thing you hear about this until that letter is faxed in with a signature.
