They spent half a billion dollars this offseason, and their 3B is Kelly Johnson and their 2B is Brian Roberts.

Money should never be brought up with the yankees....

.... Because it really doesn't matter. All I care about are the length of the contracts, and I'm glad they have learned their lesson in the ten year deals

They gave 7/155 to a guy who is an MLB #3 starter. He's not an ace. His mechanics are flawed. He's not the next Darvish or Iwakuma. Not saying he won't succeed in the bigs; but the contract--now the 5th highest for a SP--just doesn't add up to his projection

Unfortunately they didn't have much of a choice

Supposedly they just went right above the Cubs

We didn't want him anyway.**

Theo has other players higher on his board.**

He's been privately committed to the Yankees all along. This was all orchestrated by the Yankees to win the day.**

I just don't get why that much money was being put on a 25-year-old guy who has already logged A TON of innings on his arm. His mechanics need the most work. He employs the Japanese pause when pitching from the windup, stopping at the top of his delivery before hitting the next gear of his momentum. The pause is used for deception, but it can also destroy a pitcher's mechanical timing. He does eliminate the pause when throwing from the stretch, which is good. He's got a heavy drop and drive and he collapses the back leg as he lowers his center of gravity. The strategy disrupts his balance and hurts his ability to repeat. He's secondary burst is good so it's not like he's a lost cause. His mechanics just need a good bit of refinement
