(admins, if you consider this spam I apologize)

Guys, I am a long time Sixpack reader/poster and have just recently started a new business. You may have read about us over the weekend or maybe you already have an account. We are MSU grads and based in Starkville, who just had an idea and decided to run with it. Anyway, I wanted to let you know what we are doing....
We have created a new type of social network that centers around events (yehive.com). Basically you have all of the ability of existing social networks but you can define that around an event as large or small as you would like. We started building this at the end of July and launched last Friday at Bulldog Bash. We rushed development a little to make the bulldog bash date because an event centric site can't really grow without enough users immediately to interact with those events. I say that to tell you that we are still improving and will roll out a couple of updates by Christmas to vastly improve on the look and feel of the site and apps and add some more features like password protected events.
If you are already using the site, thank you. If not, please check us out.

I read in the SDN or BulldogBeat where you guys were trying to break the record for most hits after a social media site launch. How'd that go? I logged in to do my small part to help.

best of luck. I think you have a cool idea. There are some guys in the MSU Business department that might can help you out with some contact or whatever. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

We were shooting to get in the top 3 but ended up only making top 10 (which was still big for anyone outside of Silicon Valley). The DJ was supposed to talk about the download number throughout the night at Bulldog Bash, but ended up never mentioning anyone but himself so nobody in the crowd ever had a way to know how we were doing download wise.
We did come in at number 74 on iOS social networking app usage over the weekend, so making top 100 in day two was also big for us. We are going to keep plowing forward and try to grow this thing. I really appreciate your support.
